With over 10+ years as a independent insurance adjuster riding this up and down business I was thinking able the auto claims business. I have had other adjusters tell me that it was more trouble than it is worth and didn't pay anything. But I know you all will tell it the way it is no B.S. Thanks for your help.

auto claims biz. Has several limbs on this tree. Auto damage appraiser, who works out the numbers with a body shop to make repairs. Not much $ usally less than $100.00 per auto and not much milage. Auto BI adjuster- needs at least 6 months of 40 hr or more training. Auto accident investigator- needs at least the same amount of time. Auto PIP adjuster needs at least the same amount of time, Auto UMBI_PD adjuster needs at least the same amount of time. Auto physical loss samage inside job. Total theft/fire. flood so on and so forth needs at least the same amount of time. Auto subrogation spec. needs about 2 years.  All these jobs are staff jobs, that require a 4 year degree. Apply to a carrier.

Kenneth, If you are good enough and can make the top of the list a decent living can be made with auto. If you talking storms, you must be able to go from storm to storm, because the auto claims only last for 30days +-. And most of the adjusters start getting sent home after 1-2 weeks. As far as local day claims, Ray is right, unless you get a contract directly with a carrier, its a tough go. Also unless you get someone to supply you with software, you will find that the auto estimating programs are about twice what the property programs are. Bottom line if you are adding auto to your daily property business, it will add to your bottom line, but there will be times you will wonder if its worth it, because almost every claimant has a PI (ie bodyshop). If your planning on storms, the first time you say "no I'm going on the property deployment" may be the last time you get called. I have committed to a vendor on auto and so far have not been disappointed. Its the bird in the hand concept, I would rather know I will get deployed on auto than hope I get deployed on property.
