There is no formal certification for you to get that would enable you to be a Rope and Harness instructor that I know of.  The few of us that are doing this training at this time have learned the ropes (no pun intended) from hands on training, reading materials and available classes that are provided throughout the US

I would begin with learning some fundamentals of climbing and get very familiar with all the climbing terminology and tecniques.  Once you have logged multiple hours with the roping equipment and feel comfortable embuing this knowledge to other individuals, it will be up to you to either try and get on with a company that already does this type of training or go out on your own.

You may get confused from reading on this site as to the correct way to climb roofs using R & H.  Opinions are fingerprints on this site.  Everyone has one and no two are alike.  You'll get some good ones and you'll get some truly bad ones.  Its gonna be up to you to decipher the good from the bad.

Hope this helps and good luck.

And may none of your students ever fail! We never ever want to hear about anyone else falling off a roof.

When I was researching this, I ran across a training course that was related more to the commercial construction industry than insurance. It was connected with a crane operators school. It entailed a couple weeks and a few thousand $. If I remember right, the training was for hanging off 10 story structures. I'm sure this would be impressive to potential employers, but is probably overkill for what most of us do.
