    Hello all,

Is anyone familiar with a hitch-mounted ladder rack, similar to a hitch-mounted fold-down bicycle rack?  A few months ago I found a web site that showed one, but unfortunately I can no longer find the site.  I've googled until I'm blue but still can't find the info.  If anyone has any information or a web link I'd be grateful.  FYI, I'm looking for options for carrying my Werner MT-26 fold-up ladder.  Right now I'm carrying it inside my SUV, but I'm looking for other options to free up interior space and would prefer not to use a roof rack.  The hitch/receiver mount looked like an interesting option.

    Thanks in advance!

I bought one recently. The brand is Haul Master,  model 45830. I have a crew cab pickup with a tonneau cover. I loosened the bed cover and installed a headache rack, then reinstalled the bed cover. This combination works great because I can still use my pickup bed as a huge locked trunk. I can't remember the site that I ordered it from but I'm pretty sure I got it on Ebay. You cn also try Harbor Freight.

    Ed,
Thanks. I think what you are talking about is a rack that attaches to your hitch but you carry the ladder over the truck bed, correct? Or it even extends over the cab? What I am looking for is a stand-alone ladder rack that mounts to your hitch receiver and holds the ladder vertically. It would probably have no other attach points to the vehicle except for the hitch. The rack will fold down and out of the way so you can open the SUV's hatchback or the truck's tailgate. It is very much like a hitch-mounted bicycle rack except customized for holding a ladder. This would work only for short ladders or for fold-up / telescoping ladders that won't stick up too high straight up in the air from the hitch. My Werner ladder is basically like a Little Giant, so it folds up short enough that it can be carried in the vertical position. Man I wish I had bookmarked that website the first time I saw it!

    Cheers,

OK.... I found what I was looking for.  Thank you to those who replied on this and on the other post.  The link is here, with photos for anyone who is interested.  I tried to post a photo here but couldn't make it work....  I guess I are not tech-savvy!

    Cheers,

I know exactly what you are talking about (I helped design it).  Check out www.claimsadjusters411store.com.  It is called the Ladder CATy.

This was my first SUV adjusting vehicle. Not sure how the ladder caddy would have worked with this vehicle. But, when there is a will, there is a way.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
