I would like to find an experienced adjuster who uses Xactimate on a daily basis to adjust property claims (homes, businesses, structures) and ride with/assist him/her for a few hours a week. Maybe I can be of assistance in some way as a helper in exchange for some OJT which will help when I eventually get called for CAT adjusting.

I have pretty much zero experience in the adjusting business. I do have a P & C license as an agent but have never used it and I plan to get my all lines adjuster license very soon. I am also thinking I should get certified for Xactimate and get licensed in a few other states near me such as LA, MS, FL.

I have a friend that would likely also be interested in the same deal who also lives in San Antonio.

I am currently an active Realtor and have had a license in TX since 2003. I am technically inclined and own/operate a technical business and have since 1996 or so. I have lots of skills/background that may be of use as a helper/assistant in return for the opportunity to learn.

I would prefer to work with someone who has done or does CAT adjusting so I can pick their brain about that.

Let me know if you can help, Thanks!

    Regards,
     Todd R.

Todd you can do a lot of your own training in your spare time at home. Go to a home supply store and purchase a book for about $20.00 that shows you how to stick build a house and read it several times. Then take this knowledge and walk around your own house and identify each  of the material by   by its name, then go back to the home depot store and see each item in your house on the shelf and make note of the cost. Then go to a construction site and watch a house under construction. By this time you will have spent about 100 hours.

Now imagine the whole interior of the house needs 2 coats of paint on the walls and ceiling, draw a floor plan of each room show all your math of the SF and multiply by .80 per square foot. Take photos and label them and send all this in PDF format to me to assist you to learn. No charge you are a guinea pig. I can be found on this site . All this can be on paper, the computer will come later.

Thanks for the response Ray, I do appreciate any and all advice at this point. I am still looking to find someone that I can ride with/shadow as additional learning. I would like to soak up all the info I can so I can be as prepared as possible when the time comes to go in the field.

This is the way to learn, but you may have to pay some one to learn. This is a thought, become a whiz on x-mate and then come back to this site and state you will work for free for one month and write all the estimates in the auto while the real adjuster is inside settling the claim. After one month you would have paid a lot of dues and your "daddy" will let you fly away or pay you; but, you can not become a full partner in 31 short days.

I do not think this is a steep price.

That's interesting Ray, this takes advantage of my technical skills too.

    Thanks..
