Todd you can do a lot of your own training in your spare time at home. Go to a home supply store and purchase a book for about $20.00 that shows you how to stick build a house and read it several times. Then take this knowledge and walk around your own house and identify each  of the material by   by its name, then go back to the home depot store and see each item in your house on the shelf and make note of the cost. Then go to a construction site and watch a house under construction. By this time you will have spent about 100 hours.

 

Now imagine the whole interior of the house needs 2 coats of paint on the walls and ceiling, draw a floor plan of each room show all your math of the SF and multiply by .80 per square foot. Take photos and label them and send all this in PDF format to me to assist you to learn. No charge you are a guinea pig. I can be found on this site . All this can be on paper, the computer will come later.

This is the way to learn, but you may have to pay some one to learn. This is a thought, become a whiz on x-mate and then come back to this site and state you will work for free for one month and write all the estimates in the auto while the real adjuster is inside settling the claim. After one month you would have paid a lot of dues and your "daddy" will let you fly away or pay you; but, you can not become a full partner in 31 short days.

 

I do not think this is a steep price.
