Just curious how many of you out there are outraged by the recent price increase. It is across the board, from what I understand. No more discounts. They are not honoring the Life-Time contracts that some of you negotiated years ago. It doesn't matter that I've had Xactimate live, without interruption, since it was a DOS program. I have paid $60/month x 3 tokens for many years.  Now, they want to charge EVERYONE $125 + tax per month, per token. This means my bill will go from $180/month to $375/month.

This is too much and we all know that vendors are not going to allow for the increased cost even if it is mandatory that one use Xactimate. My phone call to complain fell on deaf ears. The attitude was.... pay for it, or NOT. We don't care.  I feel if enough folks complain, MAYBE we can make a difference???? We do have choices in software and I've used Simsol and Integriclaim as required by vendors. They are also expensive, but discounts are available and I personally have not had them running live through all these years.

    What are your thoughts?

Some good law firm will bust this bubble that is pushed by the water suckers on "measurable units" some day. I think ever adjuster should have to hand write an estimate(because many catastrophe adjusters can not); but on the other hand I went to a DOS program in 1989 and was one of the first adjusters that was 100% computer on 40 page flood estimates.

Paige we at Hawkins Research had heard about a $300 a year price increase from ISO (Xactimate) and MDA (MSB) starting sometime after the first of the year which has been good for Sales. We were able to confirm this three weeks ago at PLRB (Property Loss Research Bureau) convention in Seattle.

It seems our competitors have also dropped the industry practice to permit estimating software to be loaded on a second computer of the use by the paying user so they do not get shut down in case of a computer failure or loss.

We have offered our Net Services (our answer to Xactnet and ComCentral) of a flat fee of $200 per year add on to our annual $799 estimating software price vs. the per claim fee that most use. This is encouraging carrier use of our complete claims handling solutions.

Sorry for the limited options many adjusters have but as Ray mentioned things can and do change over time. :)

TWIA had the highest unit cost I have ever seen on IKE claims on both sides of the inter coastal canal in Texas. The vendor I worked for used Powerclaim as their program of choice and a dummy like me could modify my zip code prices in one hour. TWIA uses Integra and paid adjusters $10.00 add on for each file in Integra. This should be the benchmark for all future storms. A specific software should be $10.00 more and a fuel surcharge of $10.00 per file should also apply.

As I am on this rant an individual adjuster should always be furnished E & O cost of defense coverage by the blood sucking vendors, or full defense and indemnity for a per file fee.

    Gale,
I thought of you immediately and realized that you could reap from this increase. I have reviewed files written in Power Claim, but have never used it. I guess I'd better check it out!

And Ray, if Integra could sketch a roof as in Xactimate, it would be awesome. I do like it otherwise.

IMOF roof diagrams are accurate enough with the 10 & 15% factor in 98% of storm claims. Lets hear from you homebuilders who have the drawings.
