Does anyone know of a diagramming software that can be used in the field that would allow you to email it back to your office, while you are in the field...
I am assuming you are good with Xactimate (if you have others assisting you, they would be following your directions). Edited March 22, 2009. You deleted your post, so this response doesn't make sense... but you asked about sending a diagram to the office where others would input it to Xactimate.
If you are good with Xm8, the best diagramming software would be Xactimate's sketch (remember, it is a CAD type program and can export to Auto-CAD).
If you are going to the trouble to create an electronic diagram to "send to others" it would make sense to just do the Xm8 sketch on-site and you are DONE. Here's a thread that went into that. And another thread that is sort of related.
I always try to get the complete estimate done ON SITE. It takes a bit longer than scribbling down notes and running out the door, but you don't have questions about the scope, or some missed measurement when you are in a hotel room. In a perfect world, you write a check on site and the file is closed.
My blackberry can take the photos and I can email those back
I love my blackberry, but would never, ever consider using a cell phone to produce professional photos for an insurance claim. A hard hit loss won't have electricity, no lights, what are you going to use for flash? Wide angle of the room, then zoom in on the damage... give me a real camera.
