Ive been browsing the board for a few days now and decided to join and make my first post.
Obviously Im here b/c im wanting to become an adjuster. Ive been talking with as many people as I can over the last couple of months and searching online for as much information I can find in order to help me out.
I first became interested in becoming a home inspector and was really interested. Then a week later IKE rolled through down here in Houston were I live and caused some damage to my home.
Needless to say I had an Adjuster come out and I started talking with him and he was really informative. He answered all my questions, told me about some of the pros and cons of being an adjuster and How to go about getting a license.
What Im looking for here is some advice on how to get started after I get my license.
I have been working in car dealerships as a parts salesman and bodyshop parts sales. Ive dealt with insurance estimates for a number of years and pretty much know body parts and parts like the back of my hand.
Should I simply apply with insurance companies , and try to start off doing automotive adjusting in hopes of becoming a cat adjuster ?
Or should i get my license and apply with adjusting firms and go from there ?
Im really more interested in doing home ajusting and cat (storm trooper as i told by one source) more so than automotive, but if thats what i would need to do im all for it.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Greg Needham
