Pilot & Allstate now assign 30 losses when the adjusters get on site. You will get a one for one replacement until all the files have been worked out.

The people they use have a track record or they would not be called out; however this method will reduce the calls into management and make the work flow go much faster and smoother. On the other hand the slow or weak will fall off the vine within 2 weeks.

A major hurricane always have a bunch of  water-restoration contractors from far flung states moving in. This may be a good place for some of the people who have never worked a catastrophe before to seek employment. Many of them will have an adjusters license that they have never used or used and placed back on the shelf. If you can estimate in exacta mate like the insurance carriers do you will have a very good shot at getting a long lasting job and you will learn so much of what you did not know, but this a very good experience.

This is a no no, but public adjusters are always looking for estimators/computer folks in exacta-mate or other programs as well as the large local contractors. Most background checks will not show what you did in the fall of 07. Any one who will travel on a large strorm will make good money. In other words if you like to" help people" and get paid for it this may be most rewarding job of all.

Here is a link that contains a wealth of coverage information. It doesn't hurt for even us "old codgers" to brush up on coverage issues from time to time
