Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon is reminding policyholders affected by Hurricane Laura and who may be affected by Hurricane Delta that the single season named-storm/hurricane deductible law prohibits a homeowner from paying more than one named-storm/hurricane deductible in the same hurricane season.

Re:   COVID-19: Suspension of certain licensing requirements and fees

On March 13, 2020, Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Governor authorized the use of all available state and local government resources necessary to cope with the disaster.

TDI expects carriers to work with their policyholders as they prepare for and respond to the spread of COVID-19. Carriers should look to the Governor’s ongoing declarations related to COVID-19 for guidance on how long to extend relief.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In the wake of the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California’s history, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones today declared an emergency situation, which allows insurance companies to use out-of-state adjusters to help handle the large volume of claims resulting from the Camp and Woolsey Fires.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones directed the California Department of Insurance to issue a formal notice to insurers, licensed public adjusters and admitted carriers to make sure all claims adjusters assigned to wildfire claims, including those not licensed in California, are properly trained on the California Unfair Practices Act, Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations, and all laws relating to property and casualty insurance claims handling.

NONRESIDENT PUBLIC INSURANCE ADJUSTER AFFIDAVIT

The Texas Department of Insurance reminds all nonresident public insurance adjuster license holders that Insurance Code §4102.114 requires them to annually submit an affidavit on a form prescribed by TDI certifying that the licensee is familiar with and understands:

the laws specified in Insurance Code §4102.057(b);
the applicable rules adopted under those laws; and
the terms and conditions of the types of insurance contracts that provide coverage on real and personal property.

Companies sending unlicensed adjusters to Kentucky to assist with the claims from the wind and thunderstorm event July 12-14, must complete Form 8307 to register the unlicensed emergency adjusters with the Department of Insurance. The form must be completed and submitted by the insurer, not the individual adjuster or other entity. Form 8307 is submitted electronically through the insurer’s eServices account on our website at http://insurance.ky.gov. Click on the word eServices in the upper right corner to login. Insurers who do not have an eServices account should contact the Department’s Information Systems Help Desk at DOI.ISHelpDesk@ky.gov for assistance.
