    For the New York General Adjusters license a computerized test has to be taken and passed. A bond is required and application made for the license. For out of state applicants actually ending up with a New York General Adjusters License is nearly impossible.

    I passed both tests and gave up on the licensing process.

    and also, for the property guy like me what test do i have to take? General adjuster? or Casualty?

    The test can be taken on the internet, I took it in Baton Rouge, LA. I think there are two tests, one for property adjusters and the General Adjuster test.

    Should you decide to take the test for the General Adjuster's test I would suggest taking a prep course. The questions cover the insurance claims industry, to include Marine, Inland Marine, Workers' Comp, Medical, Aviation, Etc.

    I took the adjusters test in New York prior to 2007 and finally gave up on ever getting a license. My bond ran out and I just let it go.

    In 2009 I took the General Adjusters test at a testing site in Baton Rouge, LA. At this point I am not making application for the license.

    Should a major storm come ashore in New York I might pursue the license based on economic opportunities.

    Maybe if you call the NY DOI they might issue you an honorary license due to your claims volume last year

    As far as the test site, look up the NY DOI site on the net, there should be information about how to take the test. Just counsel, don't bother with taking the NY test until you have done extensive studying.

    pilot called me .. wanted me to go to NY... I think I will not... hate allstate work and don't want to spoil relationship with current employer :)

      The smart answer would have simply been to reply that one does not wish to spoil a great relationship with a vender. It is not prudent to piss off Allstate, or any other carrier or vender. I used to think that you can't please everyone all the time, but occasionally along comes an individual that can upset everyone all the time.

    The test vendor is listed on the NY DOI website, at least it was when I took the test for a General Adjusters' license
