Michael, Doing a total loss settlement on an auto can be the most frustrating experience known to man, for the owner and the adjuster. Working the total loss office actually ended my carreer as a staff adjuster. The main problem is most folks have an unrealistic view of what there vehicle is worth. And its not really their fault, the dealer sets prices high so they can "deal", Kelly Blue Book shows values that noone would give for a veh, NADA is close, but it even assumes a dealer ready vehicle. To give an example, KBB shows my veh to be valued at about 85% of what I gave new for the veh in 2005. Since I don't know the facts of your particular claim, I can only assume your problems are the same I saw on 90% of the claims I worked. First off, the value of your veh has nothing to do with what you owe. If you gave too much or financed too  long, thats on you. 2) Your veh is not any better (or worse) than the other vehicles on the road, every one "loves their car". 3)  Take a realistic view of the condition of your veh. Does it smell like smoke, are there stains on the seats, tires do not "look good", they have a specific tread depth and remaining life. And the advertised price for a veh is never the actual price,

Before you give away some of your settlement to someone to help you get a few extra $$, make sure you have a realistic view of your vehicles value, then prove it p with camparables available in your area.
