I sincerely hope that every visitor to CADO votes today. The universal right to vote defines our country, and countless individuals have sacrificed their lives and well-being so that we may exercise this most basic tenet of democracy. It saddens and disturbs me that in the last gubernatorial election here in Texas, 71% of registered voters decided that other concerns were more important than casting a ballot.
Voting is our most basic right as Americans and our most important responsibilty as citizens. If a democracy is "rule by the many", then we fall far short as an electorate. How can we possibly hold ourselves up to the rest of the world as an enlightened people worthy of emulation if so few of us actually participate in the choosing of our officials?  Surely to astute and informed outside observers we more resemble an oligarchy than the "leaders of the free world". Perversely, the disenfranchisement of most American voters is self-inflicted. We don't need a dictator: we are our own worst enemies.
Shame on anyone who trumpets about "national security" or "evil politicians" without visiting their polling station.

Very well stated, Catdawg.  A Little Rock TV station reported last night that 30% of those who are registered voted early, which indicates we will have a good voter turnout here in Arkansas.

It looks like many took your advice. More were looking for change instead of more of the same. It should be interesting to see where the new ideas take us all. If the change is good then we all win. If the change is bad then there will be another change then we will all win. Hey we are all winners in the end. :)

    Thanks for voting.
