The only thing I like so far about 28 is the interface; nothing else! Too slow, loosing work, time, and time is money. 27.5 will be around another year so. I'm going to let everyone else deal with the issues, I'm back to 27.5 for now.  Luckily I don't have clients that dictate what software my company uses.

Never ever ever try to load lots of photos into Xactimate. At 200 or more photos you will experience heartache and lost money (time). DO NOT DO IT. I warned you. I didn't listen when people warned me. I lost a lot of money and time.

Anyone has a lead on a good photo sheet program, please post it. A logical idea would be a photo sheet that allows you to reposition the photo around the open window rather than only slowly sliding it forward and backward. It should work the same way you can move icons around on a monitor- let the user move them around, then please them in consecutive order when the photosheet is viewed or printed.

OK, we had the same issues. Our server is a quad core xeon, 32gb of RAM and 15k SAS drives and the software runs like crap. Contacted support for suggestions. When I asked if anyone else is having this issue, they say "Nope. Definitely not", then they manage to pull a TID entitled What to do if Xactimate 28 is running slow. Hmmm. Anyway, tried everything on the list to no avail.

So, on the server, I noticed the SQL instance is set to named pipes. I know other apps that will not run worth a dime in that configuration, so I disabled all protocols (VIA, Named Pipes, and that other one), then enabled TCP/IP. Viola! Speed is what it should be. Of course, it may stop working in 10 minutes, hence my registering and posting this. If anyone else could try switching from Named Pipes to TCP only, I'd love to know if we're on to something or if it's just the universe at large messing with me again. Thanx

Adobe XI Pro. Can drag em all around, add text, etc.

Also, Xact 28 seems to have calmed down after the recent updates. 100+ photo reports and several layer large sketches (think hospitals and multi story several hundred room hotels) with 1000+ line items are working just fine now. It only took them a year to end the mass beta test, but it looks like they now have a workable product suitable for the market. Now that it works, I guess it's time for 28.3 haha.
