I have one but it's not because of the claims I do, it's because I live in the snow belt.  I've taken 2wd off road on the parents farm in Missouri (not a jeep trail) just fine but a heavy enough overnight snow dump strands me unless I have all 4 wheels to push through.  Based on my 2 cents, I'd say it's worth it only if you're going to do a lot of claims work in heavy snow areas.

I have sometimes had a 4 WD and sometimes not. I have one now. When I ended up on a sand road in Michigan because the post office had changed mailing addresses for the area and mapquest hadn't figured it out yet, I was glad I had it. It would have been a walk of several miles to a paved road and even further to a telephone (pre-cell phone). Mostly I use my 4 WD to explore ghost towns in California. But I'm with several others here. I buy what I can afford free and clear and run it until it has well over 200,000 miles on it. It is easy to put 40,000 to 60,000 miles a year on a vehicle in this business so buying new and financing has never made sense to me. The depreciation will put you upside down in no time. Leasing is even less of an option.
