Several of the  roofs I have inspected both in Texas and North Carolina in the last 60 days in heavy hail damaged areas are showing damage appearing to be heat damage.  They look very similar to the hail damage I used to see on the old organic comp. shingles. I would like to hear any of your observations on this particular shingle.  You can tell Atlas Pinnacles by the very sharp line that they use as a "shadow"  line.

I know this was originally asked back in October with no replies, but I just now saw it.
Atlas Pinnacles are extremely notorious for blistering. What you are seeing are blisters that have ruptured. I see this on most Atlas roofs that have any age, especially in Texas.
Needless to say, it's not a shingle I would ever put on my home.

As a contractor, I have used this shingle when everything else was out of stock. I would not do it again. EVERY Atlas Pinnacle I've ever inspected that was 5 years old or more (in Weathered Wood color only?) has blistered & looks like it's 30+ years old. I tell people now I wouldn't use it on my dog house. The best one can hope for is a good hail storm. P.S. I live in Dallas TX- HOT summers.
