    Hey Guys and Gals,

I hope this is helpful; it was worth it for me (free).

I looked around and found an alternative to partitioning drives or a new computer (so I could run Exactimate v.25.2.bootleg.208) which is turning out to be the best damn thing on this computer since there are few things I like about Vista.

I tried unsuccessfully to partition and create a separate XP based boot drive so Xactimate 25 would install seamlessly since I have AMD Turion x2 64 CPUs and have Vista Home Premium 64 already installed; no known damage to Vista, yet.

So, I now have XP Pro 32 bit (so Xactimate can run w/o issues) installed on a Vista 64 bit based machine and it is F-ing fast (yes, with a capital F).  It (the Virtual PC program with XP Pro loaded) boots like a regular PC and it reads CD/DVD/flash drives and you can directly mount ISOs and you can even share folders/drives between the host PC (Vista). The only issue I've heard of is networking through the program, but you would use the host OS for that anyway. The description on Microsoft’s website says that it only compatible with Windows 7, but I (and others) installed it on Vista and it runs better than great.

"With Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007, you can create and run one or more virtual machines, each with its own operating system, on a single computer. This provides you with the flexibility to use different operating systems on one physical computer."

There is a link below where you can read more about and download it, scroll down on that page and choose between 32 BIT/setup.exe and 64 BIT/setup.exe; Bit # should be the same as the system type on the physical computer you will be installing on.

    Adios,

I've been running Xact on my Vista 64 machine with no problems. Why did you need a work around?

For some reason it wouldn’t take on my laptop. I would make it half way through the second process until an error would abort the install. The version you use must be different from the two that I have; one being available from torrent sites.
