Hi I have been out of the business for 7 years after being in adjusting for 10 years. I went into realestate and we all know whats happened to that business in the last year or two.
I have worked several Hurricanes plenty of flood and spent a lot of time on the Northridge EarthQuake.
In your opinions what would be the best training center in Texas to go get up to speed in the current realm of adjusting.
I spent 7 of my 10 years adjusting w/ Pilot who was a pretty good company back then. I have used xactimate but that has been a while and I want to get up to speed on that software also.

With that experience and familiarity with Pilot, seems that might be the pile you want to step back into unless you stepped into the wrong person's pile.  If this is your first little foray back into the mix, or for that matter this website after 6 years (or, whatever)....go to the archived forums.  You'll probably see pretty favorable comments about Pilot among others, along with some not so favorable comments about other vendors.  Lots of those bad comments though came from newbies, which you apparently are not.  At least you didn't ask "how much can I make?"

Thanks for the info. When I was in the business before all you had to do was try hard to produce the best product you could and treat everybody fair and the pay took care of it self!
I heard Pilot has a good training school in Dallas any input on that?

I would recommend you take a three day Xactimate course from Xactimate, VALE or a vendor. The reason I recommend this is six years ago your files were put in a basket for you instead of being downloaded from Xactimate, you were using Polaroids instead of a digital camera downloading your photos into Xactimate, you were submitting a hand written Activity Log instead of writting it in Xactimate, you were hand drawing your roofs and rooms instead of using Xactimate Sketch and you were putting your completed files in a basket instead of using Xactimate to upload them to the company you are working for. This is what the major carriers are now requiring.

nferris, do you have your adjuster's license and what state do you live in? Do you have a four year college degree that would make you eligible to hire on with an insurance company?

Vale has excellent training that is recognized by all insurance companies and vendors. Vale has a Residential Dwelling Estimating course that is two weeks long and you should be able to write estimates when you complete this course. This might be and might not be the course for you as it depends on what training you have had.
