     Dear All Friends ,

I am a trainee  loss adjuster in fire and burglary branch.  I am hoping to open my office on end of this year. We do claim scene investigate  with  eyes , interview with people and checking  documents. We use laboratory very little .  So  I need detailed information about fire  : How to talk with a fire scene ?  How to understand  fire starting point - fire dynamics - / how to talk with  flame colors/tall ,  ashes / etc.  How do you check a fire scene area for insurance company ?

Shortly  I will do adjustment  with  eyes +  interview with people in scene area + checking all documents  invoice - accounter papers -bank papers etc. for insurance companies .  I need to be very good  about talking with claim scene .

Anybody  offer me a book , website , forum etc.  about fire investigation in scene ?  I need to elarn everything about fire types and to understand them in scene area  not from laboratory.  Thanks for your advice :)    also my email  : ismail_keceli@yahoo.com

    Regards,

    Bluefire

Ray, maybe we should write the book. I have a working title.
"how to gain 20 years adjusting experience in one month or less and be an executive general adjuster while still wet behind the ears"

Does any one know of a college that has a four year degree in Insurance Adjuster Studies as I understand it takes any four year degree to get a starting job.

Bluefire, where are you going to be working fire losses? What kind of structures will you mostly see?

This site is slanted towards Catastrophe claims like Wind, Hail, Hurricane, Flood and earthquake claims. For the most part we do not get that involved in fire claims.

The link I provided above is the most information we have on the subject on this site, the article contains links to other sources for additional information.

     Dear Robby ,

If   I  understood you correct  you are saying  my writing = spam.  I wrote like that because I wanted to give full information.  I dont have much things to share with forum this time because I am not really in adjustment operation. I am in training. Yes I am going to some jobs and for example yesterday  I did a risk analysis in a milk-yogurt-cheese factory about fire/storm/water flood and burglary    but not special yet to share here.

what are you waiting from me ?  I dont have much experience yet to be a king of  this forum.  Just I am trying to get datasheets - experience  and maybe to get an online education to make myself better and better... what is wronge in this ?  why you thinnk as spam ?

It may be you little skill at expressing yourself. Your first post seemed to say that you were in trainning and wanted to open your own office in 1 year specializing in fire and burglary losses. Now, to be an average adjuster in these area takes years of experience. You can't pick up a couple of books an claim I ARE AN ADJUSTER.
It has become a sad reflection that everyone wants to be an instant expert and making big dollars without paying any dues.
And we are running out of experienced adjsuter to clean up the debris.
For the next while PA's and bad faith lawyers will have a field day.
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

You are right. I will open my office end of year or next year but I know  to be a perfect adjuster I need minumum 4-5 years experience. I am just trying to start to be better . I am paying for this , paying to books , spending time to read adn spending more time in training etc.  I am not waiting free. For example I dont have to visit a course in usa this time but I am trying to find an online course  this time and I want to get a real course in usa in future.  I know there are experienced adjusters here  so I am just trying to get ways from them , is this negative-bad thing ?   Maybe my english skill is not enough to explain correctly full I dont know.

As a former senior exmainer (10 of my 40 years in that role) I would not  have knowingly ever given a fire loss to an a 1 year adjuster and would never have given an assignment to a person running there own office with less the 5 years experience. Make sure you have lots of E & O insurance.

First time insurance companies dont give big jobs  , Insurance companeis gives small - basic jobs in flood water-storm - burglary and small fires.  Big jobs going to experienced adjusters who has 10 -15 years experience. Need to start from a point.

He may be real,  but is he for real.

After 40 years I have to ask did we always have people like that or is this something recent?

I have seen what happens when an inexperienced adjuster is sent out to run an office and it is not pretty.

Instant adjusters, and we will all be paying more and more for E & O.

Mr. Bluefin , if you are asking for detailed information and what to look for and how to talk to the insured, do what all of us experienced adjusters do, Take a course on the subject.

May God help us all if you are serious about trying to start an IA firm  when you don't know a G@#Dam  thing about adjusting.
