I am thinking about a career change and I have considered both home inspection as well as claims adjuster. I have gathered some information up on different training facilities both online and hands on. I would like to get answers to a few questions I have before I make a decision. Any help is appreciated.

    1. Being in Kansas I am thinking that I should get a Texas license. What schools/training facilities do you guys suggest.

    2. Once licensed I am concerned that work won't be there for me. Would you suggest getting on with a insurance company to get experience before going independent?

    3. Do most people do local work to help balance out the peaks and valleys of "chasing storms"?

    4. It seems like you should get quite a bit of experience/training on the exactimate software as well. What do you guys suggest for that.

    5. What kind of overhead is a person looking at as an independent. Do most people travel with a truck and travel trailer? It seems like this would be a good option for regional work. With me being in Kansas  I'm thinking that there would be quite a bit of what I would consider regional work in the midwest. I think being centrally located would be a pretty good bonus.

    6. Thanks for your help in advance.
