Below is a link on a recent article on a forum that has a leaning in a given direction, so take it for what's it worth. It involves two of the top people in claims at the TWIA, and recent job changes. I have known both in the distant past and know them to be excellent claim handlers and managers from my dealings with them. Needless to say since Hurricane Ike their lives and careers have been all over the news, and one must keep in mind that what you get on the news is not unbiased and always has a slant to the person or group that is either reporting it or feeding the reporters.
I know that Reggie has been in charge of claims for TWIA since right at 1-1-96, which makes his length of service 15 years. I don't remember when Bill started there but I know it was sometime after that. it is obvious they were forced out in some way, and since there is no notice of them being fired for just cause, I would guess they were asked to resign or "laid off". I know of no major corporation or company that doesn't give severence pay under those circumstances, and I'd guess that based on their length of service with TWIA, their job titles/classification, and their final rate of pay, one may find that these packages are very much in line with what the "normal" world pays.
I do wish Reggie and Bill luck in their future endeavors, and I would guess that both of them have a little relief in that that they don't have to deal with all the political BS that came with that job. Trying to stay out of the crosshairs of the politicians trying to make their brownie points and all pltf attorneys blaming them for everything they can think of has to be a fulltime job in and of itself.
