I am an experienced auto, RV and mobile home adjuster. However, I am interested in becoming an aircraft adjuster. I am an aircraft owner and have been flying for over 20 years. Does anyone know  who  I can contact for this?

Aircraft  hull adjusting is a very specialized field and has very few writers.  Back in my stone age years I worked for Lindsey and Neswome in Amarillo TX and appraised 25 + hull losses, in 6 years.(1980s) Not much volume in west TX area.

The first place I would suggest you check into is the Association of Flying Adjusters.  This was my inroad to this field; however, I started climbing the corp ladder with the old L & N and got away from this line of work.

    Good Luck - Donny Reed

Here is a link to the OFA, Organization of Flying Adjusters, they may provide some additional information.

flaporte, I was an aviation adjuster for some 22 years working with Gay and Taylor and then ultimatley opening my own aviation adjusting company. This is a very specialized market with several domestic carriers and a number of Lloyds underwriters in London. I would suggest you get with a member of the Organized Flying Adjusters, (as Roy has shown) and dicsuss it with a member. Perhaps you can get on with one of them and learn that way.

I am a pilot and soloed on my 13th birthday in a PT-19 and have built several experimental aircraft. You must have an aircraft at your disposal 24 hours per day to be available at all hours of the day to work losses. I worked commercial, general, and agricultural losses and at times, lived in my Cessna 182, due to work loads. It is an exciting field, but one must learn the policies and coverages. Simple hull claims are fairly easy to work, but if you get a liability claims, those are very difficult. Good luck with your desires.

This was interesting for an old timer like myself. I have only known two aircraft adjusters in my years. Tom Toll and Tom Roche with Paul R. White & Co. in Houston.

I could see how the PI investigation would not be valid unless the adjuster was very good in liability principals and also a  pilot with all the disciplines.

Ray, I have not heard Tom Roche's name in years. I worked some claims with him years ago and found him very capable. I owned an adjustment company in Houston  for three years and had the opportunity to meet him. He is a swell guy.

I miss the aviation adjusting. I just got tired of looking at bodies that resembled a pot of stew, other than that, I loved the work, as I have always loved flying and that gave me an oppurtinity to fly all over the country.
