I keep running into adjusters, sometimes fresh out of XM8 classes, that do not know there are alternatives to knowing all the codes or searching the endless lists.

I think some instructors may feel it is important to know the codes so you can use them in your scopes, and they forget to tell students about the pictures.  Sometimes you are just too tired to remember an obscure code.  Use the reference pictures.  Hover over the item you want until the cursor tag reads, "toilet", or "door", or whatever you want, then right click for choices.

Once you right click say a door, you get three refined topics:  Clean/paint, Door-Hardware, and Doors-Replace/Reset. Select one of these,  then options applying to that selection appear.

These pictures are available in Sketch, Estimate Items, and Summary Matrix.  They are an option under Search.....click Reference Search.  Until recent updates a list of the rooms came up and you had to click the name of the room you wanted.  After the recent updates they added thumbnails.

Click either the name or the thumbnail of the room you want depending upon what version you have and it expands.

The rooms (reference areas) available are:

    1.Bathroom

    2.Floor

    3.Framing

    4. Kitchen

    5. Plumbing

    6.Roof

    7.Stairway

    8.Wall Framing

    9. Wall Section (cross sectional drawing)

    10. Window

I hope this helps some who are struggling with XM8. One quirk of XM8, you can't find a sliding glass door or patio door with the pictures.  They are listed under windows....but if you type sliding door or patio door in the search box it will now come up...WDP choices.

    Good Luck,

    RandyC
