Yeah, Ray. And I want to be a world class Porn star but don't have the 'equipment' nor the super thin and hard 6-pack abs. Maybe some one in the dirty movie making movie capital of the world wouldn't mind letting me ride along with them, either. Or, maybe a brain surgeon, or a steet car conductor, or even an ice cream man driving the truck thru the kiddie neighborhoods.

Isn't that about the same as what we're hearing around here?

Best job in the world = Sky Cap at a large airport. Employment is by invitation only. If you are a sky cap chances are you Dad and Granddad did the same thing. We watched a TV special on them and it is unbelievable how much money they make and a large portion of it is in cash. No ride along needed in that business.

Frankly its sad and a bit hilarious how people are always asking for training and Ray Hall is always offering it but I can't see if anyone takes him up on it.

Kinda reminds me of an out of work contractor I know, I told him he could get some experience handling water losses right after some heavy rains we had in SoCal. He was crying that he didn't have any work. I suggested he call some of the dryout companies. That's when he told me he needed to work for cash only because of his disability income. So I told him call around anyway, they need people, some of them might pay you cash. Then he told me again he couldn't do it unless he was paid cash. Then I told him again to just call around, some of the dryout companies might pay him cash, they had a lot of work. Then he repeated to me again, he couldn't take any work unless it was for cash only. I finally realized he wasn't actually wanting any work, he just wanted to SAY that he wanted work.

My wife has always told me that I was wasting my time on trying to help new people. After about 6 years I agree. If you really think about it why would they trust someone who will do any thing for the cat. industry for FREE. The cat industry is about $ only. Some time I think the one,s who can not make a living start a school for adjusters or a cat company without enough background and capitol to rise to the top....

Just use your own home and assume it had five feet of water outside and 4.9 inside. Everthing will be destroyed except the ceilings and some dishes that can be washed, possible some clothes. Its a big long estimate 15-20 pages long and takes  a while to hand write, like 1 day and about 1 day with a computer program. But, most flood claims do not settle with the first (draft) and the computer will save your hair and keep the wart off your middle finger

Commodes, tubs and such can be cleaned, but tile on drywall must go with the drywall, some alum. windows, the plumbing pipes and wire can be salvaged, dont forget the outside conderser, get all seriel numbers and nod. numbers. Remember muck out, appliances and carpet are ACV not RC.

When you get this done, please save a copy. All the flood forms are in all programs.

Ray that is the easy part. Knowing all the current holes in the road and how to avoid them to get a file approved by the NFIP file reviewer considering NFIP like everyone else is pressing to not pay any more than necessary unless you can absolutely prove it is the key now.

Outside condensers are "clean up" unless they went under salt water.

Two things to know about NFIP, one is that congress is slow to fund NFIP, two is that NFIP is auditing WYO companies, so every file gets a through audit and some of the rules are hard to fathom. Generally speaking, the adjuster gets paid after the vendor gets paid, sometimes it takes months to get a file approved.

State Farm has said that they are leaving the WYO program.

NFIP does review every single file. It takes months and several changes before they pay.  Some of their new quirks.  Everything is depreciated even if the homeowner replaces it they still require depreciation if they can prove they replaced it and meet RC then they will consider reimbursing. That one is a tough sell   If you had prior claims you better have receipts and not just one line contractor estimates  better have photos showing the repairs ongoing and completed  if they paid you even back to 2004 and you have a current loss they will not pay you again until you prove you replaced it in 2004  If you had several claims will need to prove made repairs for each claim.  If contents are damaged do not discard until the adjuster inspects, if you must better have good photos showing serious water damage. If you toss it or it is washed away with no visible proof it was there  they may not pay you.  NFIP is watching their money just like everyone else

I don,t think I have net a new person who can write a total to insurance loss amount on a dwelling blown away by a tornado. I think this should be the standard test for an adjusters license. Use the ISO HO-3 form. I will admit the first one is difficult, but it must be done. But, it must be done before you claim to be a catastrophe adjuster.

Open your little minds up a bit. This would also be the same scope for a fire, flood, straight line wind, aircraft, auto damage , possible V &MM and explosion claims. Also a stampede of circus elephants not owned by you.(No I have never worked an elephant stampede, but I can).....  including the subrogation recommendation.

Ray,

I really like the Elephant Stampede scenario!!   I am wondering tho, If when the Elephants stampeded through the insured's dwelling, and IF they left behind droppings, would that be considered debris, or would the government somehow try to charge back the insured for the free manure? (Since the government already has its share of BS they probably wouldn't buy it back!!!)

If the droppings were still green, our current group of government people, pressured by the enviornmental group(s), would buy them as green energy, and provide a grant for the best way to harvest, refine, and transport.

Back to the subject of flood adjusting, if in the near future there are no deployments on the horizon, I am going to take a poistion with a company that does FEMA inspections. As with the roofing, I feel that a chance to learn, while getting some cash flow, should not be ignored. The FEMA inspection companies provide personnel in disaster areas, many of which have flood losses.

The FEMA jobs, follow large disasters. Usually flood and wind. If its wind the fee schedule is much better as as a cat. adjuster. You must be flood approved to work flood losses and this would be a good supply of income. Jim I could probably teach you the rudiments of running truck accident scene investigations, this is a year around job in a lage port like houston, and when you get called out on a storm, you will not loose your spot and it will be their when you get back. You can also run accident scenes for video recording of auto accident on the red light timin etc and take photos of impact makes on two autos with a measuring stick photos to determine point of impact  and so forth, it does not pay much , but when you get good inside adjusters will ask for you. Lets get togeather for luch this week, you buy.

Did you ever stop to think why the NFIP requires 4 years of property adjusting experience before you can  be qualified to to be certified. Just read the flood policies from start to finish. It will give you the feeling that this is not policy that is looking for customers. More like it,s a policy that only one insurance carrier can write. UNCLE SAM. Millions may need flood coverage but only 10-15% purchase coverage. All of the old timers remember all the increase in payouts over the years, RCC, less exclusions, broader definition etc.

WYO is an awesome job, as the charge backs for "wormy flood adjusters" is very painful.
