Thanks, I have it and suggest that you not spend your money. For some reason that Nuance customer service cannot identity it will not run properly with my set up (computer). I just wondered if anyone else has it and what set up they have.

Jerry, I read the files you suggested, no help there. Thanks.

I have (had) it, threw it in the trash. I have been told that it does not work well for those of us with a southern accent

Chuck, I have not used Dragon 11, but have ordered it. I am dictating this using Dragon 10. if you spend a little time and train Dragon speaking, it works very well. From what I understand from friends of mine who have Dragon 11, it works much better and has some additional features that are very nice.

Just like insurance adjusting, it takes experience and training to become proficient at using it.

Tom, my computer is hand built, I run 64 bit Vista and a 4 core chip, I suspect that is the reason 11 would not open. Nuance did not seem to be able to help me so I took it back to Wal-Mart. I probably should have stayed with a 32 bit operating system.

    Chuck,

I feel your pain. Every few years I go out and buy a copy of the Dragon software only to be confounded by it. I have met several people who, like Tom, have been able to get it to work.

As for 32 bit Vista or Win7, it's really hard to find a computer with it loaded standard. I've held onto a few laptops solely because they have 32 bit Vista (and XP Pro.) I am running 64 bit Win7 on my PC laptop, but there are some programs I can't run. I try to use my MacBookPro whenever possible.

Chuck, I am supposed to receive the Dragon speaking 11 on the 24th and as soon as it arrives I will install and start playing with it. Dragon speaking 10 is working just fine, however, I understand that 11 is much faster at learning and has some features not found in Dragon 10. I found it on half-price sale and ordered it to see what the new features are.

As soon as I've had time to review it, probably sometime after Christmas, I will pass the information along to you and to all who might be interested in using it. I used it initially on a Vista 32-bit machine. I am currently using a win7 on 64-bit and it works perfectly. I'm not sure why you're having problems with the installing on your computer, but, surely there is a way to get it installed.

Janet and I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Tom, I bought the basic version from Wal Mart, Wal-Mart gave me my money back, so I am not hurt, but I have a use for Dragon if I can get it to work.

There was a spell when I was using it on windows xp and it was pretty good. I don't do casualty files except once a blue moon now so I haven't needed it.

You have to train it and learn its codes. It was hard for me since I never dictated many reports until I started with dragon. For those who dictated their reports a lot, they were familar with the codes or phrases that allowed the system to operate.

I have an attorney friend who started using it when it first came out and he even uses it to open up email and reply through outlook.

Xactimate appears to have a feature that allows this to work through it.

Geez Chuck, if you've suffered through Vista and continue to use it, then you'll love '7'.

Jud, Vista has been awright for me. This computer has enough speed and memory to run it. I am about to upgrade to an I7 chip maybe dual chips and "7".

I considered a top of the line Apple and to run a virtual PC but I don't know.

Most likely, Dragon runs better on a fast Apple than on any PC.

    Chuck,

I recently retired my Apple PC that was running XP on Parallels and went with a Windows PC. I thought Apple would have ran windows better than windows ran it, but all I was doing was operating two OS's on one machine. Windows continues to operate like windows even though it is on an Apple Computer.

You still have to run your estimating platforms on Windows even though you're using an Apple PC. So, unless you are going to use the Apple PC for extensive word processing and presentations to help you on the job, then I wouldn't bother with it. In summary, it's a great machine for everything else except running estimating platforms.

As computers evolve they are faster, the I7 chip matches up with faster DDR memory, graphics cards are faster and the price stays about the same, overall.

Actually, as I see it, the cat industry is changing and so am I. I haven't written a property estimate in several years and if I can avoid it, I don't plan to. Word processing and claims analysis is what I want to speed up, hence a faster computer and talking (Dragon Naturally Speaking) rather than typing.

For most things the Apple operating system would serve my propose very well.

Several years ago I made the switch from laptops to a purpose built desk top and now that it is starting to get old I am starting to think about change and progress.

I have had good luck with the i7 chip and currently have it working with 8 meg of DDR memory and Windows 7 without any problems and it handles what I can throw at it.

Chuck, I received the Dragon speaking version 11 and am using it at this time. It recognizes words much better than version 10 and is much faster. I can just leave my DragonBar open and shut off my wireless headset so I can use Dragon for about anything. The only problem I have is every time I cough it asked me to please say that again. With my ailment I cough a lot, however, it does not affect my continuing to speak.

Someone mentioned that the menu and all the memorization involved is too complex. It is not complex and rather simple, certainly more simple than using exact amate. You can use it for the web search engines to search a subject, use it on AOL instant messaging, Yahoo Instant Messenger, Word, WordPerfect, and many other applications. It is time for us to renew MSB Integra claim so I'm going to ask them if they will give me 30 days in which to try and use Dragon speaking on their system. I will let you know further.

I wish all of you a happy new year and certainly a more prosperous new year than 2010.

I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking version 11 and installed on a new Windows 7 laptop. I am astounded. I run it with white smoke and as I said I am astounded.

After a trial run with EXCEL, Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 11 seems to work extremely well.

I started with DNS7 many years ago and have updated with each improvement. It's a great tool with minor defficiencies. The mic can't be by your open car window. Oops, did I say that? Yes, from time to time I dictate while driving.
