Todd, Eberl's is the sponser and I sent them an email (Tina) and she will take care of it I hope. That is the only Company that has copies of my resume and certifications. I don't know why but it is the only one I felt at ease with. Everyone I have talked to, that have worked for them had nothing but good to say about how they treat their adjusters. I thought you worked for them, but wasn't sure. Have a good day and don't huff too much mold.

S.F. has only two certifications, Wind and Hail and Basic Estimatics. They originally had five, those above along with Large Loss/Commercial, Earthquake and Flood. The latter are no longer offered.

Training guides are not furnished at the IDL and have to be secured from a contracted vendor. Our company charges what shipping and copying costs. Contact a S. F. vendor for them. There are some handling methods that are unique to S.F.

The roll method is the one used by S.F. on their tests. You are to assume all carpets are 12' wide unless told otherwise. A 12' carpet is assumed to cover a 12' space. There is no waste applied when using the roll method. I have a small handout I use when teaching our Certification preparation classes and if you like I could email it to you.

We offer certification preparations classes at our training facility but I usually don't recommend it until someone gets the traing manuals and after reviewing them feels they need some help or not passing the tests they feel a need for some extra asistance.

You are to apply waste on roofs when doing the calculations unless the quesytion tells you not to.

Any other help I can be feel free to contact me. darrylm@worleyco.com

We do work for a carrier that does have a policy CD and it is very helpful and time saving. It has all personal and commercial forms and endorsements. It is updated a couple times a year.

Newt, you are right, I do work for Eberls, and they are fantastic to work for. They are always striving to keep everyone happy, with help, support, they don't miss an opportunity to show their appreciation of us and they pay well. You picked a good one.
As far as mold huffing... I think I almost have a snort full. Been here almost a year now.
Good luck on your SF certs.

I had the displeasure of treating mold and inspetions for about ten years and it never bothered me. The work was dirty, nasty and very physical. I hate crawling under houses with spiders, snakes and sometimes raw sewage. I have been bitten twice by spiders, and one of the services I offered was the removal of wildlife which included snakes and relocation of honey bees. Mold was the least of my problems, in other words I never reacted to it.
Yep, I want the SF certification so I plan to work hard for it. Nothing comes easy if you want to be good at it.

Newt, Thanks for your kind comments.

Interestingly, Gibsonville, NC is on the other side of the county (Guilford) where I now live (Stokesdale, NC) and was reared (you raise hogs and rear children).

One of the relatives on my Mother's side was a Catherine S. Fig
(within the family she was affectionately known as 'Cookie') and she was courted by and married a Frank H. Newton who was from the Gibsonville area. Cookie and Frank had 13 children (a 'baker's dozen') and were quite liberal for their time, combining their last names in marriage. While they had a hardscrabble life and were not exactly rolling in dough, needless to say they produced quite a few Fig-Newton's (maybe that cookie company owes us both royalties?).

Shucks Newt, I suppose that means we're related: I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I knew there was something special about you 'Cousin' Newt.

PS: I still have two standing but unused tobacco barns out here on the family farm (you must have been from the rich side of the family with all those 'plantations') so I know all about the hard work of croppin' 'terbacky'.

PPS: I know that John Durham will have 'pun' with this!

Wes, it has been a while since I passed the State Farm tests, but if my memories serve, State Farm provides a set of books with the answers in them. For the purposes of the State Farm test shut down your mind, memorize the study materials and go take the test.

The new book and CD of policies will be out in a couple of weeks, Alliance called me and asked if I wanted to wait on them and I said"yes". This in reference to the information Linda gave me on a previous post under this thread.

Between the study guides and the experience on the forum, I think the SF test will be made a lot easier. The pricing and measurement methods will have to be committed to memory I would think. I have a guide now on estimatics and will get the rest soon. I'll sure be glad to get this behind me. I have other things to study that I consider more important. I completed the Farmers Property and Auto in June after getting my Xactimate certificate. FWUA was a good course on CDs, I thought it was money well spent because I got a lot out of it. I hope the SF study will do the same for me. I have been in this almost five months now, and thought several times about getting the Vale property course behind, but that will have to wait until spring.

Note to all that have taken the SF test and have offered comments. I for one appreciate your input. If you or others who have take the test and can remember the questions please pass them on with an explanation, you do not have to give the answers.
