My MoJo say's Lake Charles Beware, I still think it would lie. You can never tell about those yellow cats, even if you do dye them black. I may talk Ghost Buster into some water sking or surfing about next Thursday. |

Here's my fantasy choice. That sparkling city by the sea, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Here's why.
Yeah, it's only 2 hours drive from the house, but more importantly, this is the one city in Texas that is the single most expensive place for mold claims. They have in place and working the best equipped and aggressive contractor/public adjuster/plaintiffs law firms. These pirates know what they are doing and have groomed the juries to the point that policy limits are now a figment of the imagination.
The plus side for us is that every loss would start at the policy limit and go up form there. This translates into fee bills big enough to choke King Kong.
NOW...do you see why we need a powerful adjusters organization to keep the vendors and carriers from turning us into minimum wage slaves in the field? |

I think the idea is great, The key I think is an organization of IAs,and maybe that would stop the infighting. We should care less who takes the lead as long as all agree and a group is appointed by a majority to make some rules. Give Ghost Buster a stick so he can keep order. The ideals should be to promote fellowship, training , ethics and discuss mutual concerns in how we are treated and paid. Establish rules about the day to day business of CAT adjusting or adjusting in general. Make sure people are qualified when they go out representing the group. Maybe later make assignments, that way the vendor would be assured of getting quality people. Union? no way I don't like the dues. I have not decided one way or the other which hat I will wear, and maybe after the storm is over there will be a change and I will decide, I had rather be independant but this will require some more thought. |

Not to worry my brother. Several of the super firms,(they have offices in FL,AL & MS) have been boiling more cats than Newt. By the way MS is tort hell. A MS jury makes a TX jury look conservative. This should bring as much or more mold work than TX. I'm sure the TX firms will enlist the help of as many associate firms as they can to sign up cases. That's the way the game is played.
One of the shysters called me Saturday night. He wanted Newts number. He said there wasn't a stray cat left on the Gulf Coast. He thought Newt may a few extra laying around. We should have 4 to 6 weeks of fun before they start running their ads. Another 4 to 6 weeks after that while they evaluate their cases. We should have 3 months before the lawsuits and letters of rep start to fly. Plenty of time to make some big bucks before the mold crew business starts. |

Another interesting thought is that if my information is correct, any cause of action, if similar to a cause of action being pursued in Mississippi can be joined to an action being tried in Mississippi.
What would prevent these mold suits from changing from individual suits to large class action suits tried in Mississippi. |

The damages all have to be the same before you can class this. That's why it hasn't been done before now. |

Found a new deal... kitty vendor. Here kitty, kitty I'll have a truck load by tomorrow. I'll have a rolladex full of them on call. Isadore is making the turn yawl and that front is lined up. What about Kile and TD13? I think the fat lady is gonna sing. If you have one of those expensive Simonize cats hide it. Some shyster Mississippi lawyer might steal it. |

(Uh-oh...here comes another one of those Texas colliquilisms again.) Not to be spoil sport, but, ya really shouldn't count your eggs till the hens get laid. In fact, I have learned that the truck don't roll till the there is damage done, and enough damage to warrant me leaving the driveway.
We're having a good time pondering the lawyers soiree, but how can we build ourselves a magic shield to protect us from Lawsuit City?
Alan, please give us some hints. Trusts? False personal information like address', phone #'s, FICA numbers, or phony drivers licenses? Do we take our earnings and go underground? |

On the otherhand a trust is something to think about. Since you are in TX, I suggest an out of state LLC, S corp or other such vehicle. Form such a thing in AL or MS. Put the whole thing in someones name. May I suggest checking the local cemetary for such names. Make the checks out to your kids trust fund, which you are the trustee. Now, the trust may have to file a tax return. However, if there is a will or trust or LLC or Corp, then there is a way.
P.S. If this thing hit's I'll set up a "midnight class" on how to perform such deeds. |

It over folks.... Izzy is NOT going to regenerate in the GOM in time. He is way too BROAD and spread out for the Inner core to tighten up again. Flood threat will be high but widepsread Home damage theat is over... Yes Izzy will make landfall close to or over New Orleans but NOT as a Hurricane.
Some model data wabt to take Lille to south Florida next week (Oct 1-2). But right nowe Lille is looking like crap... over the last few days as Izzy was stalled over the Yucatan Lille raced WEST and the distance between these 2 systems shrunk. Now the outlfow from Isidore is creating a hostile enviornment for Lille's Thunderstorms to grow... so the system is weakening fast.

Well I guess we are to the "What if we don't get a hurricane" topic
Maybe some of us will get flood work, but it definitely will not be the event we all were waiting for this year. |

Minor wind claims from pensacola to ole Miss and some flood work (remember floyd!). Unless this storm slows down and wraps it convection in a hurry then we are still waiting for a landfall, will be 3 years on the 23rd of october. Time to start a poll, how far out will Dr Gray be (8-3-1) currently 12-3-1. Also el nino finally starting to look like an el nino, will we have storm work in California out of this. ps hurricane season isn't over, may still have a surprise or 2 in store. |
