I learned many years ago that no one has control of your destiny and desire except ones self. No one can make you successful, except yourself. No one can make you happy except yourself. You cannot be hurt by others unless you allow it. I also was taught that perserverance, perspicacity, and perception were the three key words of life. I have lived by them and have been successful within myself because of those three key words of life. Am I the most knowldegable adjuster around, certainly not, no one is. This business is complex and ever changing. No one has all the right answers, as there is too much ambiguity in this world. Build your own little world and work to create a sun that shines everyday. Do not allow negativity to interfere with your ambitions. There is one constant that everyone should work toward and that is to soak up as much knowledge, friendships, love and triumphs as possible before you leave this life.

I am a little ticked at IC right now too. I did not expect that little box to pop up telling me that my system would evaporate in so many days, particularily as there are a number of large commercial losses in the system, yet to be concluded. Let us hope that IC has our interests at heart and that all the estimating systems will work toward helping us become who we should be.

The clock is still ticking and I don't have my copy of the new version. Does anyone else?

Hey Guys anyone or all can respond but I just received a sample of Powerclaim and hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. Is anyone familiar with Powerclaim. I like the idea that it can be purchased for $599.00 per year as related to the other carriers with their lease program.

Thanks,
Joe Aymond

Well, we received ver 6.0 in time. Got it installed and was able to keep the original database. It allows us to install Boeckh per state data. This I like. So all the furor over IC was a waste of time. All the heresay was for naught. I will not get caught in a trap of gossip again, until the product arrives and has been throughly checked out. For all you gloom and doom folks, it works and works fine. The new features will enable us to process estimates faster with its broader database. So far, I and Janice are impressed with the new 6.0 Integriclaim and hope the rest of you will be. Till the next controversy, adios and good luck this year.

Memo to Tom Toll: Tom, "Platitudes accomplish nothing" was your quote in an earlier post.

Then Tom you turn right around and resort to the very same use of platitudes, which you condemned on the part of others, in labeling those who don't see things through the same lens as you, as the 'doom and gloom folks'.

Tom don't you think it is just the tiniest bit duplicitous to condemn others for doing the very same thing you then turn around and do yourself?

Ghostbuster and I still have a bet going with Clayton and Gale that you would look most appropriate in your Integra Claim Chief Cheerleader outfit, so please post a photo and we'll let the audience decide.

You are absolutely right Jim, the platitude is hereby withdrawn. I would be remiss however, if I did not say that being critical of something that has not even arrived and been tried, is a little silly, (not a platitude). If something is new, installed, and disliked for a variant of reasons, then suggestions, not criticism would be in order. I see Companies, Vendors, and others receive criticism that may or may not be true or warranted. To criticize, one needs to present facts, not fiction or heresay. If we want negativity, turn to CNN, CBS, ABC, or NBC. They love negativity, it sells. I watch very little news for that very reason.

I can assure you that I am not on the IC payroll, don't get bonuses or suppers, and don't get a huge discount on their program. I am just an adjuster, like most out their in CADO land, trying to make a living. I do like their program and that of Simsol. I started with DDS shortly after they came out with the program and liked the way it worked and particularily the reporting features. The improvements on the new version now make writing the estimate faster, and that is what we should be looking for. Even if they use little pictures of exteriors and interiors, it get the job done. If you don't like the pictures, turn it off and use the list. Geez, that was simple.

I have talked to other adjusters who are members of CADO and specifically asked why they don't post. The majority of answers have been, why should I make a post and then wait to get tarred and feathered. Perhaps CADO is headed in the wrong direction with the evolution of the internet and its broad spectrum. Perhaps our creativity and common sense has gone off the edge.

Bye the way Jim, I could not find a bra big enough to put on with the cheerleader outfit, but I did find a ZORO outfit that looked pretty good. Would that be alright.

Cecilia, the ceiling insulation is on the ceiling and always has been. In the new version 6.0, it is on the ceiling.
In case any of you did not know, when in the estimate, you can right click on the room and it will give you the option of changing the database from Boeckh Res/Comm to the DDS data base. I found that to be rather useful and gave me the ability to change prices, which you can do in the craftmen database. You can also right click on the estimate lines to make global changes.
Cecilia, this is a good estimating program, but has no value if you do not know how to use it.
Set up a practice estimate and play with it. Make notes as you go, cause when you write someithing down, it sticks in your memory better. There are a few things in the new program I don't care for and I have sent those complaints to DDS/IC. Hopefully they will resolve a few issues very shortly, if they intend to stay in business. Scott Weins is FOR us, not against us. He has always been helpful and an ally of ours. If you see something that just does not appear to be right, e-mail the complaint and/or suggestion to IC.

I have used dds for 4 years. It was a difficult non-user friendly program to learn. I grew to be very fast with the macros, and my own cost line items. I believed the program was the greatest. BUT, I have my new unusable version. The only saving grace, if any, is I imported my old data base. But guess how it reads.
1. Drywall (can't paint it) but you can paint the wallpaper.
2. Base board, (can't paint it)
3. Microwave, can remove (can't replace it)
4. etc. etc. etc ad infinitum.
The point is: The program is no long usable.

I discussed this with the tech and he said if I haven't upgraded I can call Pilot to get the wed site to keep the old version. (I have already upgrade, (too bad, so sad))

I talked to the salesman. He said "don't like it, go to simsol."

The extremely noticeable "a" in front of every line on the estimate printout is less than desirable. The salesman agreed. but again, (too bad, "don't like it, go to simsol.")

How can we make the company that doesn't care about their customers, make the porduct useable again?

Louise, do like they said, go to Simsol. John at Simsol will treat you like a real customer, he cares.

Louise, as independent cat adjusters we 'vote' (pay money) with our feet and our wallets.

SIMSOL is an excellent program and the DDS salesman gave you some damn good advice. (Maybe John P. needs to send him a Thank-You note?)

And Tom Toll, please hurry up and post that photo of you in your IC Chief Cheerleader uniform so Ghostbuster and I can win the steak dinner from Clayton and Gale!

These two operating systems being discussed are next on my list for learning. If they are like the others, it sure takes some practice. I guess we all dread the unknown and changes, and maybe that is what makes it so difficult to accept and do. I worked with xactimate for a few months and I found features I liked and didn't like. I did practice claims until I was about half proficient, now I have to start over with another system.

Tom, reckon you could wait till the moon turns blue, so we could have some blue cheese for dressing.

No need to learn DDS/IC, Newt, as Louise says DDS/IC is all but unusable. If you find work as a "hail jockey" it will do that, but try to write a $100T + fire estimate on site with the insured, his wife and a contractor in attendance. I direct your attention to the selection of crown moulding.
