Does anyone know the adjuster who was killed by the mudslide in California.

He was identified, by news reports, as Carol Eugene Nuss, 57, a father of three from Wellington, Kan.

Perhaps the new CADO fund could be used to assist his widow?

I don't have any first hand knowledge, but someone working in California will. I picked it up off the net and it appears, that it is true. According to the news story his wife was with him at a KOA campground.

The mayor of that town was on Fox News this afternoon and he called this name and spelled out the last name. I did not catch anything about him being an adjuster but they were just reading the names of remains recovered. From what they the bodies were really torn up as the mud slide sweep them away. I mean this week has been a week of death around the world.

I also stayed at the KOA campground in Devore, CA for about month running wildfire claims, but I left two weeks ago. My R.V was parked across from Carol Nuss and his family. I was very sad to hear the bad news. My best goes out to the Nuss Family.

In nearby Devore, about five miles to the west, another mudslide struck a KOA campground Thursday, killing manager Janice Arlene Stout-Bradley, 60, and Carol Eugene Nuss, 57, a father of three from Wellington, Kan.

Stout-Bradley's granddaughters Kari Best, 16, and Jamie Best, 13, said she had been giving them updates on the flood by phone Thursday, and she told them she wasn't worried. Stout-Bradley was baking brownies about 15 minutes before the mudslide hit, Jamie Best said.

The girls said county officials told them their grandmother was standing on the front porch of her mobile home when a wave of water crashed into her, killing her instantly.

Residents returned to the KOA campground Saturday to try to salvage what was left of their trailers, now crumpled and covered in mud.

Thick mud reached to the bottoms of the windows of several buildings and was higher than a car on both sides of the road up the canyon. A side of the campground store was ripped away, and toys and clothing littered the campground.

Stout-Bradley had organized a Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate the return of the trailer park residents after the fall wildfires. She had managed the facility for 10 years and was constantly creating odd jobs and forgoing rent there for people in need, said Rebecca Richardson, 15.

Richardson said her family lost their home about six months ago and Stout-Bradley let them park their camper at the site and gave her father a job at her adjoining horse ranch.

"She didn't want to see us anywhere else. Anyone she could help, she would," Richardson said.

Nuss, an insurance adjuster, had arrived about a month ago to handle wildfire claims. He was helping another camper when the mudslide struck, relatives said. His wife, Bev, survived the mudslide inside the couple's recreational vehicle.

The adjuster was Carol Nuss and he was working with us for Allstate through Pilot. He and his wife were staying/working out of the KOA Campground in Devore when the storm hit and went outside his trailer to do something and never made it back in. His wife and trailer were washed down from their spot, but thankfully she was alright. There is a collection being taken up here to help out Bev Nuss and her family and if anyone would want to help, you can either call me at 909-596-3165 or send anything to me here and I will forward it onto the family. My Address is Steve Beaumont c/o Fairplex KOA, 2200 North White Ave, Pomona, CA 91768. Any checks should be made out to Bev Nuss. Please keep Bev and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with their tragic loss.

Chuck, using the CADO Adjusters Fund is a good suggestion. I have created a page for the fund, http://www.catadjuster.org/fund.asp and we will send some assistance to the family of Carol using the fund.

Here is an updated story from the Wellington Daily News which is the hometown newspaper for the Nuss family:

"Wellington Mourns Loss Of Carol Nuss

According to close family and friends, Carol Nuss was a highly admirable person. Nuss is said to have been someone who helped people. He was even helping people up until the moment he died." [The rest of the story can be read by following the link below]

Pilot also lost another adjuster over the holidays I have heard. Mark Harris, 28 years old, died in his home. I have not heard many details other than he had been home a short while from the clean up and mold unit on Isabell. It appears he may have had a reaction to some medication he was taking. If anyone has any more information, please share it with us.
