Here is an administrative question for CatDaddy.
Good buddy, would State Farm allow a vendor to conduct a closed file audit on one the vendor's own adjusters after the adjuster has left the storm?
Or, would it have to be a joint company/vendor audit?
If so, would the company people be an R/T or from the SIU? |

Ghost, if the vendor had some type of concern about the adjusters files that also concerns us, I am sure we would audit the adjuster's entire inventory. It would at most be a joint operation. Depending on the situation and what we were looking for, they would use managers and reinspectors for claim handling issues. If it involved someone taking money, corporate auditors would be added to the mix I am sure.
Our reinspectors audit closed files of adjusters that have left the storm on a routine basis. Just because you have left before we get to your files does not make you immune to file reinspection and feedback to your vendor's management. Run and gunners beware.
Our SIU handles issues concerning our claims and insureds/claimants. We bring out the big boys when an employee is involved.
Do you and I need to step into the confessional? (laugh) ________________________________________________
Lenny, you have never seen my files so you cannot say your vendor or carrier would not accept my work. I know several BIG vendors who have said they'd love to have it. I doubt yours would be any different.
Have a good one!

What? What is this I hear? Ghostbuster in a confessional? Are you sure about this CatDaddy?
My Gawd, you could be in there all week. How would you ever get any work done?
And are you sure your ears would be ready for this? Oh, the stories you would hear..... (Don't even ask him about that night with the muchachas down in Del Rio after too much cheapo tequila!)
Next thing you know, we'll be making history with the first live Internet exorcism right here in real time on CADO.
Ghostbuster at confessional? Father CD better bring your long book of Ave Marias and Hail Marys! Its enough to make us good Methodists run and jump back under the covers.
Oh, such scary scary thoughts.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death......

I am sure the scene would be similar to the one in the Exorcist where the girl is cussing out the priest and talking bad about his mother. If I remember correctly, the priest jumped out the window in the movie. If it got too bad in there, I know I would probably choose the same solution if it would save the rest of the CADO world from eternal Ghostbuster damnation.
Live long and prosper my sons,
Father Catdaddy

I think that this post and this site is very funny. What you have here is a message board where people come to try and get information, but in reality you have new/younger adjusters who ask a question and an old guard that just loves to jump on them. I feel like I am at my grand parents house everytime I visit this site. "In the old days we did not do it like this or that" or "back when you only had to write one estimate a week" or "these new guys are just out to get rich and are not serving the insured". It does not sound to me like they are looking out for the insureds or the IA interest at all, they are looking out for their own interest. Trying to make sure that no one enters the storm business so that they will not be moved down the list by someone willing to work harder and faster. Why else would anyone try to "burn tail feathers" instead of lending a helping hand? Next time someone posts a topic, try something different, just answer the question. Do not attempt to shame and embarrass them, you only end up embarrassing yourself. |

Well said BA17. I have been on the mountain preaching this for several years, to no avail. You are right, this is one of the several reasons people don't post much. You are right, we have the pompous, know it alls that have to put down scripts presented here. I love Ghostbusters comedy and you never see him putting someone down or making one feel like a fool for posting a question or remark. A little humor hurts no one. If enough of you guys post and get your feathers burned, I will start a thread for names to be entered into the "Pompous and know it alls Hall of Shame" |

Good post, Brian. From my glasses, rarely do I see this site as "funny"; but far too often as an embarassing thing of some sort.
Whether "we" be new or old to the business of claims, I think we are all out to get rich; it is just the perception of what some are apparently willing to sacrifice to reach that goal that tends to taint the dollars.
I think your statement is true, concerning the efforts of some, verbally or otherwise; to suppress or discourage new entrants. I'm not concerned - today anyway - about my place (if any) on those mythical lists, so any comments I have had that could be interpreted that way; were not made for my best interests.
There is a little more to the "tail feather" thing. I've been on the hot end of it, and it didn't take the place of a 'helping hand'; but in hindsight probably was an aid of some sort.
Welcome to CADO with your first post. I hope you become a steady contributor. It is people like you, Lenny, and other fresh, new or whatever kind of "blood" they may be; that will - through your numbers and level of participation - influence this site. |

Hail in Alabama, my power has been off and telephones were knocked out, but I have been hearing we have had some storms. Has any one heard of claims comming in. I don't know the population density of the area that got hit, there were tornados, wind and some hail varying from nickle to baseball size. The news said it was wide spread, that was old news by the time my power come back on. |

The real question isn't if it is possible to do 10 claims in one day. The story starts to stink when you factor in he would have to average 9 a day to accomplish what he says he did. Again, possible....but what we are lead to believe is that in 24 days...it never rained, never a hang-over, making 215 contacts while closing 9 a day, no messages, no reinspects, no kicked back files to correct....these are just a few things that always slow us down. yes, any good adjuster can kick it up, and do 10-12 a day. But to average that over a three week period is just too much to swallow.
P.S. Amen on the Joe Allen's, but...isn't it really more of a Bar-B-Que joint?

Tom, Well said. I'm sure we all know some of the names that would go into the "Pompous Hall of Shame". It really is sad that people can't post some things in here without being put down and made fun of for what they have to say and contribute. Disagreeing with someone doesn't have to come in the form of a put down or burning tail feathers. |

I made a previous post about arrogance and pomposity, but pointing toward none. Let us not assume that someone with the ability to use multi-syllables with an excellent word flow as being arrogant or pompous. That must be considered an educated talent, of which few have. I learned many years ago, through personal experience, that meaningful, fewer words make a statement easier understood and meaningful. The ability to write in mult-syllables is a trained and learned talent and one that I personally admire. We have several posters that exude this talent and I for one admire them. Possibly the selection of words could be looked at more closely. 80% of the populaton doesn't understand multi-syllable words, so their use falls on deaf or un-educated ears. I hate to say that, but it is a proven fact. I am 63 years old and still love education. With the internet, education is possble to anyone who has the desire for self education. Education should be a constant in everyone's life.
Some adjuster's are satisfied with not being able to spell properly or construct a sentence properly, and that, to me, is a pure shame. Communication is one element in our profession or any other profession that states who you are. If you cannot express yourself in an educated way, what stature are you as an adjuster. Heck, anyone can climb a roof, take pictures, and draw a diagram. The end result of that is reflected in the report and its content. |

Tom, Ghostbuster never puts anyone down or makes them feel like a fool??? Have you been on walkabout? He’s the frick’n king! I had to go the Bosley Institute to have feather’s transplanted to my butt cuz they wouldn’t grow back after all the scorchings Ghost has given me. Lucky for him that I have found enlightenment and become Father Catdaddy or I would tear him a new one every chance I got. He’s the Devil ya know.
Carry on my flock,
Father Catdaddy
