Heavens to the texas exam, but testing alone is not enough. I have more then once sat accross from an adjuster (when I was a company grunt) who had more initials then a can of cambells finest, and listneed to an ego give incorrect instructions. We need more, references proof of experience? interviews, this cannot be easy or it will not mean a thing. But the end could be a small list of really qualified adjusters recognized by all honost vendors for their skills. Don't forget that this should include our long suffering bethern working daly claims. |

I agree with what Mark says. There are a lot of 'professional students', who can learn anything and have lots of initials behind their name, but who cannot do a claim out in the 'trenches'. I have cleaned up after some of these 'initialed' adjusters. And I might add it is not much fun to do usually. To make a list of qualified adjusters is a good approach, but to make it happen would take a lot of work, and a process invented to make it happen would have to be widely accepted by all involved and concerned. |

It is very obvious the number of interested individuals that would truly like to see an organization of adjusters for adjusters.
To establish the type of organization I believe we are all so hell bent to establish, requires a core group of individuals who are willing to dedicate their time and energy towards establishing this organization. Reaching out and soliciting the populous for their input is easy. It’s providing them with the foundation and what the organization is going to do for them before we see the support form our community. This organization like any business; will be made up with those who lead and with those who follow. If the leaders can put together and implement an organization that is beneficial to all its members and the industry we all work within then the followers will come and support it.
The biggest question is who are the leaders? Who are those dedicated individuals that are willing to scarfice their time to establish this unknown organization?
To establish this unknown organization does not require the permission or the support of the adjuster community it requires the individuals who want to see it happen. It’s as simple as that. We have all read here on this sight the positive and negative comments from well-respected individuals and their views on this issue. Now its time to put something togeather for us all to grab on to or not.
What I’m looking for like so many others is the new CADO topic introducing this new organization and what it has to offer.

I understand the thought, but qualification has to start somewhere. Today we reserved a domain name and we will publish an email address for submitting questions along with a true false or multiple-choice answer. So Ghost I need the true false or multiple choice answer to your questions. The process will eliminate the irrelevant questions and the poor questions and eventually if we are able to put enough time and effort in to the project we will have a test that will sorely tax adjuster's knowledge.
Eventually we will require evidence of successful claims adjusting. Perhaps we will accomplish that in the same manner as golfers and rodeo cowboys. If you can't make money working in the field then you lose your certification.
On the other hand I may be working and we will never get this to go, but we have started with an idea and we have taken the first step.
We will publish an email address shortly.
For the time being I need at least two people to sort the questions, any volunteers?

I've taken the liberty of opening a new thread in the hope of capturing what is coming out of this thread in the last few days, as the first few pages of this thread is unrelated to the current dialogue.
I hope you will all add your thoughts to the relevant new thread to keep this great concept alive.
Can I suggest that if Roy or others deem acceptable, that the posts relative to the "organization" discussions be moved to "The concept of a Professional Organization - Redux" thread in this forum?
Chuck, I'll help with whatever I can, if you wish; as time permits. |
