I can see where we are going to have to have a 'name that organization' contest to see what the organization is going to be called.

Mark, what is the latest on those storms you are watching and your predictions??!!

If we have an organization of adjusters, why would we need the vendors? It seems silly to me that I am paying somebody 30% of my fee bill when:
1. The vendor is sleeping in his own bed
2. The vendor provides no benefits
3. No expenses, other than running the office & paying benefits to those people
4. Yes he has a contract with a carrier, but the carrier calls & requests certain adjusters.
5. The vendor agrees to lower fee bills because he is still going to receive his money, while he stays at home
6. Fee bills are lower now than they were 12 years ago & the cost of expenses has risen considerably, as well as the cost of living in general.

Very good, Bryan, you get a cookie! It good to hear some feedback from the maddening crowd.

And, a point of order, if you please, this abornning organization is NOT intended to be another vendor. It's intent is to be a trade organization or association for storm troopers where ever and who ever vendor or carrier they are toiling for at the time.

But, back to the hardest part of any new creation setup, the name choosing. Ya know, CADO has always set well with me...it has identity, it is established, and it already has the caps and Tee-shirts with logos.

Yep, CADO is good by me. CADO...Catastrophe Adjusting Done Omnipotently! Has a nice ring to it, and it don't hurt to ever take the moral/spiritual highground, either.

All in favor, say AYE! Opposed? The AYE's have it! Next order of business?

AW shucks GB, I thought we could get a rise from you.

CADO in an of itself, (No acronym required) is about as close to being a nationally recognized name as we can get.

Been here since '95, all the carriers and vendors know us, so IF Roy does not have a problem then we can initially agree (wow) on

"CADO"

as a catastrope adjusters designated organization.

We are working on a email site for submitting question for an exam. We should have that today.

Now...as to the accepted pronunciation of CADO.

My vulgar tongue has always pronounced it as C-soft A-D-O, with the 'A' sounding like in CAT, not a sharp 'A' as in KAY.

Do we all agree on this point?

OK, now I "think" you have a name, lets get some names on a list so that we can nominate committee members.

Bryan, while your post of 8/3 @ 19.56 carried many valid points, I would suggest that the need or lack thereof of vendors - if there is a valid organization - is not something that would be on the immediate agenda of the organization.

It is an important issue - that once a viable and representative organization is in place - that should be discussed and resolved; perhaps as a medium term goal of the organization.

However, trade organizations seldom act to place or deploy its members in a work environment.

Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a month since I started this thread, and over a week since there has been any comment at all on this "organization thing".

I've re-read most of the posts in the various threads of this "Organization Discussions" forum, personally I find it disappointing that the banter has fizzled; Ghost's thoughts on 8/2 @ 08.43 sure ring true now.

I've seen a lot of cycles or peaks and valleys come and go in the claims industry, but one thing that remains constant is the lack of a professional organization for the benefit of all adjusters; and I see the need for it more each year.

Lets set aside for a moment all the "official chat" - rules, regs etc etc; maybe we are putting feed into the stalls before we have called all the horses to the stable.

These thoughts are directed to all our latest wannabes, our current newbies, and all who are or want to be an adjuster. Do you not believe that once the formalities and pain of creating an organization are dealt with, that it would not be of benefit to you?

Plum Sauce was created to make Egg Rolls more palatable, so more of them would be purchased. Adjusters exist at all levels of experience or qualifications, as do doctors, plumbers or engineers. Does it not make sense to find common goals for everyone within an organizational framework to help us as a group to better our professional stance in our marketplace?

Set aside for a moment your opinions, likes or dislikes regarding your vision of an organization. Simply put, if you see a glimmer of value to such an organization on how it may help you in some way or help your profession - give a sign, give a signal.

The silent majority is tough to read.

I note with puzzling interest that in the past 22 hours or so since my last post to this thread, that there has been about 40 hits to this thread; but no responses of any kind.

Even and old dreamer like me can read that message pretty clearly.

At least this time - our seemingly semiannual kick at the dog - we advanced another chapter or two from last time.

Clayton, are you implying that these sacks of confetti and the 14 gross of helium balloons I bought may have to be used in celebration of my first viagra pill and not the CADO Trade Association BBQ? Say it ain't so!

Well Sir, I've come to the conclusion that the BBQ was not marketed or pitched correctly. I think we broke the 1st golden rule of any good car salesman. All the wolves circling the carlots waiting for fresh meat to pull up have ingrained into their minds "sell the benefits, not the features"; this we did not do.

I don't care to know about a vehicle's airconditioning system, but I want to hear about how the climate control will make me feel better. I don't care about the size of the battery, but I want to feel good about the cranking power for all the components in the vehicle.

Similarly, perhaps our non-participatory audience didn't care about the mechanisms for qualification and training standards, but may have been more interested in what it could have done for them. Or, some (maybe most) perceived this as the evolution of an elitist group, as opposed to my vision of a trade association for the benefit of all adjusters and all those aspiring to be an adjuster.

Ecetera, etcetera.

Dearly Beloved...here it is Sunday evening and the assembled multitudes have gathered on this spot.

So here I sit, perusing a copy of 'Professional Safety', the monthly magazine from the American Society of Safety Engineers. 64 pages from an industry group that started their own trade association. They even have their own website at www.asse.org. It appears that since this is Volume 48, Number 3, that this bunch has been around for at least the past 48 years.

HEY!!! What about us??? We're just as much a professional herd as any other, how'za 'bout a status from our committee as to any progress being made? Or, do hafta fire up Ol' Dragons Breath to get a response. This time it will first be Kile's turn to pull the trigger, followed by Alan.

Ok, since my name was mentioned, I'll chime in.

When I'm working, like I have been since early April with no end in sight, I don't have the time to worry about such things as a trade organization. When I'm not working I'm pretty much concerned with doing all the stuff I got behind on while I was working and trying to find more work.

I guess Clayton hit it on the head, what are the benefits? Why should I invest some of my time and treasure in this venture, what will I get in return? So far this year my portfolio is up more than 15%. Will I get a better return than that from dues and service to this proposed organization? To put it in the most capitalistic terms possible, what's in it for me?

I'm fat and happy right now. It will take a big shake up or the prospect of major returns in order for me to want to make an effort. Why rock the boat when you're sailing along smoothly in the direction you want to go?
