Can some of you who've been out on the road for a while give some insight as to where some of the most reasonable places to stay are? I've done some research on the net and found that Red Roof Inn has some great rates. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks in advance. |

I stayed at a Red Roof Inn in St. Charles, MO. in the summer of 2001. That was for an auto hail storm. I would prefer an extended stay kind of place for working a property storm (fire for you big red guys). Studios Plus is a good place, Amerisuites, ExtendedStay America is good. I don't reccommend Crossland Suites. They are nothing more than a regular motel room with a tiny kitchen where the sink usually is.
It's nice to have a room with a sitting area seperate from the sleeping area. You get really tired of sitting on your bed all the time. It's nice to have a recliner or a couch to stretch out on every now and then. I know some people who actually rent furnished apartments. This is good when you know you'll be there for 3 months or so, but how often do you know that? |

Extended stay is alright but walls or thin. I have found Homestead is much better if you get the larger room cost more but worth it and have offset bedroom and large closets etc almost lets you get away from work.
Just my thoughts and it will cost more

Have been happy in Candlewood Suites, well set up for working. has the kitchen and can usually get a decent rate if you are there for a while. Now if only they had pools. |

Michael,
Working ice dams several years ago, I thought I'd be slick and rent a furnished apartment. Got a good deal. Then found out I was in the flight plan of a nearby airport. Oops.
Knowing whether the assignment is going to have "long legs" or not can make the difference and you can often save money and be more comfortable.
But you have to balance the savings against services available, proximity to office and claims.
The people with travel rigs have it wired. Bring it with you.
I have been pretty pleased with Extended Stay America. Red Roof Inns vary widely in comfort and safety.

Marriott's Town Place Suits are nice and in some areas are very affordable, I stayed there in NC for $53. They have a nice size kitchen with full stove, refridgerator, DW , microwave etc.... also has phone + seprate data line. Better than an Ex-stingy Stay America |
