Man, I am bored to death!!!!!
I am down to the last bit of remodeling on the interior of my house - painting the inside of the service pantry. Guess I have to start on the landscaping next after the rain quits. I am driving my wife crazy 'cause there is only so much I can help her with in her media business. She is trying to convince me to go out to Odessa and finish some little odds and ends for her sister on their remodeling!
Actually a great part-time activity when your not storm-chasing is officiating youth sports where you live. I officiate high school basketball here in Houston and all over South Texas (got a game down in Port Lavaca tonight) and besides being fun and a way to stay in shape, it pays fairly well for the time involved. I have done 45 games already this season with probably another 8-10 left. Made a couple of grand in the process. My wife finally agreed to let me do another sport and I may get into football as well. Actually, the best (and easiest) money is in volleyball! If your interested, in Texas go to the TASO.org site and there are links to all the UIL sports or in other parts of the country the governing organization for basketball is mostly IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. Not sure about other sports but you can check with the athletic department at your local school district. I know guys that make a couple of hundred bucks on a Saturday doing Little League baseball when they don't have school games.
The great thing about this type of job is that it doesn't interfere with storm-chasing like a lot of part-time jobs might. (Plus it keeps you out of the trees!) |
