Kelley
I read your note and wanted to make sure you knew that DDS has the Delorme mapping link built in. This feature is explained in more detail on our website (dds-solutions.com) if you are interested in knowing more. From speaking with adjusters on the storm sites in the past couple of years, it seems like Delorme Street Atlas is the most commonly used mapping software in the adjusting industry. We are currently beta testing their new software and it has some excellent features such as finding an address with just a phone number. You can check our their web site at www.delorme.com.
P.S.
As an aside, we do not get any royalties from Delorme, we simply promote software that we hear the majority of adjusters recommend and that we feel adjusters will benefit from. Happy mapping.

In the past I have never seen any need for a stand alone GPS unit, but after handling multiple location, multiple builing losses after Irene I decided that such a unit could be used to identify particular buildings. I have the Delorme Earthmate and have it hardwired to the battery on my truck and find it indispensable. Over the long haul the cost is less than the cost of multiple maps and the time needed to understand, transcribe and follow driving directions.

David, more and more compainies are going to DDS, what happens then ? With a GPS you can at least use it with different programs, you are not locked into just one.
