Conman. That whole price list and software issue is a red herring. It is the same kind of software and pricelists that are used to handle insurance repairs for all kinds of other losses. I'm sure when the dust settles the problem will be found to be something other than the software. |

Yes Kile, when the dust settles "carrier [delivered] instuctions" are going to be laid out for all to think about.
"Adjust" accordingly... |

I've been working flood claims in Maryland since Sept. 20th and there are a number of issues working. The biggest is the fact that this "event" occurred in an area that is less than a forty minute drive from the state capital, NFIP headquarters and Capitol Hill. There are new issues surfacing every day. |

That's what I've been saying since the first story posted. |

Don't Understand,
It is my thought that the carriers in the six states have been closing property claims for YEARS. My only guess is that they have either used one of the software programs we use, or have accepted every contractor's bid for repairs(not likely). Thus this problem is not a pricing issue, rather a scoping, coverage, and heaven forbid policial issue. I have not seen many posts complaining of the prices used for the wind portions of these losses. Could it be that we could rework every loss again?? Don't think the carriers are that STUPID. What was the daily rate Fema paid on those fires in NM a few years ago?

If you think you are "adjusting" flood losses, you badly need to do some reading. |

Agreed Chuck. We neither affirm nor deny coverage. We prepare a scope of loss and an "estimate" of the covered damages per the policy and submit same to the vendor we are working for.
We explain to the insured, the items which are covered, those which are not, and how these items are paid, RCV, (If applicable), ACV, (on rental properties, secondary dwellings, carpet, appliances, contents, etc.) per policy guidelines.
This is then reviewed by a servicing agent, somewhere, and then the claim is paid, denied, kicked back, whatever.
The paperwork and restrictions are very different from an ISO policy form, weather standard of modified.
The flood policies, (all 3) differ in some ways, and if you are not familiar with each and every aspect, you WILL get into some contentious situations.
