As I sit here in my hotel room in Paducah, KY, everyone I know is in the Superdome in New Orleans celebrating the first football national championship in 45 years for our beloved alma mater.
If I have to spend every January in Paducah for the rest of my life I will if we can keep winning. I am not ashamed to say there is a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat right now.
I hear Pete Carol over at USC is trying to contact Al Gore for tips on how to handle such a disapointment.

Kile congratulations to you, LSU and Mike Worley and his LSU gang on your outstanding victory. Well deserved!
(Though I'm starting to think that you should change your place of residence to Paducah. And please don't mention what Kentucky did to my poor Tarheels on Saturday) |

Kile...better gird your loins one more time, cause this time you're going up against the media machine just over the hill from the beautiful San Fernando Valley. (That's how the Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce wants you to say it.) Yep, our betters in southern California say they're Number One and you hicks out there in the bushes, (east of the Colorado River), need to, as the Rock in wrestling used to say, 'Know your role', and get back to slopping the hogs and living the trailer park, Jerry Springer life.
That's right, the obviously superior fans of USC and their media mavens know they are the ONLY ones worthy of the Number One and the sports pages will be up to here with any kind of justification needed to show LSU is lacking in any catagory they choose to expound on.
One more time, can we get a show of hands on who is in favor of Los Angeles getting a 10.0 earthquake and secedeing off into the Pacific Ocean? |

Congratulations to LSU on their CO-NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Once again the college sports hierarchy can't get it right!! If a poll was taken nationwide you would find that USC would be an overwhelming choice as National Champion. USC is better at QB and other skilled positions on offense. LSU has better D!! Coaching is a push! We'll never know who is better. Let's play the game!!!

OH, for the want/need of a College Super Bowl.
LSU is outstanding in every respect and deserves a shot at the USC "wish they were's".
Anyone think enought presure could be put to make it happen? OR, maybe the teams could just do it on their own, bet there would be 10 high flying stadiums that will host the game for "0"

My brother, who lives in Baton Rouge, was at the game and thanks to the miracle of cell phones, I was hooked up with him several times during the game. Pretty cool listening to the crowd live. I don't think he will be able to talk for a week. LSU is the national champion, because that is the system that was chosen to decide it. They can change it, but like our job, that is the rule at the time and that is what they have to go by. Plus, I love listening to all the whining out here.
