When you aren't working catastrophe claims, how do you support your lifestyle?

| Normally, very strict budgeting & any temp office adjusting assignment that comes along. This time, waitressing at a local bar and grill. Extra cash in hand is very appealing for the coming Christmas season. |

Off season, is spent building houses as well as dealing with daily claims handling for a few Insurance companies, completing presentations for brokers concerning Replacement cost on high end homes as well as comercial properties.
Trying to spend some time travelling as well. Or overall doing what ever is necessary to make a living.
Completing certs as much as possible.

| When the storms end and they do end, I do the honey do's that need done then I lock myself in my work shop and focus my attention on new ideas or improving on custom built Mobil Computer Stand I manufacture and sell to adjusters and anyone who lives on the road and has his office is the passenger side of his front seat. Having been a mechanic for 20 years 10 for myself it is not hard to find something to keep you busy. My goal is to promote my computer stand enough that I won't need to be on the road to earn a living, I will be selling you a Mobil Computer Stand. |

I become a part time legal secretary, copy boy, delivery boy, witness, janitor, and all around gopher for my wife, whom I put through Law school for my retirement. I dont think I'll ever retire!!!
I also love to sit on my porch with the dog and watch the world go by!!
I am finishing a local fire loss( that keeps me in Dunkin Donuts coffee!! |

If you are like me you do have to make money during your off times. I do suggest that you try to do something that is associated with adjusting if at all possible. I have a construction business which specializes in homeowners property claims. This has proven to be a good fit during my off times.
I write estimates on a daily basis, which also helps to keep me abreast of policy changes. This is extremely important here in Texas where there is no such thing as a standard policy anymore.
Consider working for a company that does this type of work. They may be more understanding of some one, like yourself, that may be leaving to do cat work. They may also be willing to pay for some of your continuing education requirement courses.

| I find the very lucrative field of risk inspections to be worthy when claims are slow. Also, helps to find new customers once in the front door. |
