Hello,
My name is Steve Sluss and I recently completed my Texas license and Farmers certification through ICTC. I was hoping to find an I.A. on a CAT team that could use an apprentice, so I could gain more experience and sharpen my skills. If you know of any IA’s who might want an office slave, at my own expense, could you please forward my contact information? I'm also interested in steep and high work and would be willing to train anyone who is interested in rope and harness skills. If you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me. | Well Glenn, I'm not really sure but, thanks for your response and insights. I'm also not sure what the protocol is but, I figured I had nothing to lose. I have a solid background in business and if I come across an offer like this once I have some mileage under my feet, I'll be all over it. |

If I were out on assignment right now I would invite you to join me as an apprentice in a New York minute. Perhaps when hurricane season arrives and one hits, you'll still be interested and my invitation stays open. Of course, you have to understand that I have made the same offer to "Newt" so what better way than to mentor the two of you at the same time.
In the meantime, one of you Old Pros out there ought to jump all over Steve's offer and give him a chance. After all, someone gave each of us a chance once upon a time, and the least each of us can do, is to return the favor accorded us by continuing that wonderful training tradition.
CatDaddy, can't you use both your imagination and "pull" on this one, and help both Steve and I out by getting him into your storm realm and training him properly? (The side benefit of me owing you lots of 'dinner and drinks' in gratitude alone ought to be worth that!)
If I can do anything in the interim to help you in any way Steve, please let me know.

Thanks for the plug, your response is encouraging. I don't have any solid commitments yet but, the e-mails are slowly coming in. Like you, it seems allot of adjusters are on standby right now. I hope you and the others I’ve with Corresponded with get called soon. Thanks again, Steve

I am currently on assignment in the DFW area for hail. I have been working on a fee schedule, but am now switching over to the daily rate for clean up duties. If you are interested in working hail & want to cover your own expenses & things, send me an email through my profile. |

| Anybody who reads this, that is trying to get their feet wet, I highly recommend this approach to help get you started. To everyone who helped me out and pointed me in the right direction, I thank you very much! Does anyone out there have any experience working for or dealing with construction companies that follow storms? |

| If your looking for positive feed back on the storm roofers you will be looking for a long time. It is a great way to get rich quick if you have low ethics. I have door knocked a few storms and the +pay is great but I always leave the city upset that the homeowners are going to have problems and no one to call. Good Luck with adjusting. Thanks for the response. I took my Texas lic. and Farmers Cert. through ICTC and they also offer a xactimate class that I regret not taking. ICTC is located in Waco, TX and the fees are quite reasonable. Good Luck, Steve

Once you obtain your lic. you need to look for a school that teaches you something about adjusting. There are several firms that not only have schools / classes but will followup ( if you have potential) with OJT.
Pilot Catastrophe has several locations & Pacesetters Tech in Tulsa Ok area is another one. Both have excellent training and are well worth the money if you are serious.
If you are going to put money into a school that teaches you "adjusting" skills make sure it is backed up with an oppertunity to try out what they have taught you.
You do not have to have any adjusting skills in order to obtain a lic., it only gives you the right to operate. |
