I have a Texas license as well as Michigan and South Carolina. Which state license are good to have? Which reciprocate with Texas? We all need to be as deployable as possible. |

Don,
Good answer. I like your humor. My marriage license expired. Know where I can get another? That is the only one I'm having trouble reinstating or renewing.
On the serious side, is it possible to contact the TDI (Texas Dept. of Ins. ) and submit a question to see if there is a list of reciprocating states?....I just found a web site www.sir.com.com that is supposed to let you order a letter of certification so I could renew one of my other state license and it had a reference to all of the states. But, I didn't get to order my letter from the site, so I'm not sure how accurate the information is. The site did lead to interesting areas, just none I needed at the moment.

I think the crucial license to have in the adjusting business is your drivers license because without it.....it's all over baby |

Joyce, the TDI does have a list of reciprocal states on its website.

Linda, where is that list of Texas reciprocal states that you were talking about? I made several attempts and could not find it. Thanks for your time. |

"Texas will grant reciprocity in licensing non-resident adjusters. To the best of knowledge, the following states issue an adjuster license that would allow reciprocal licensing in Texas." **

Folks,
The March 2003 issue of Claims magazine has a table listing of which states have reciprocity, which states do not have non-resident licensing, etc...it's pretty informative, but I don't think it's availible online. I tried their website and the National Association of Independent Insurers (www.naii.org), with no luck so far.

The list of states is listed on the first link. The second link is for the Reciprocity Statement which explains the requirements.

FYI there are Texas resident adjusters who are attempting to get these requirements changed or at least matched with the reciprocating state. In other words, a Texas adjuster may have to jump through several hoops to obtain a South Carolina non-resident license. A South Carolina adjuster should have to jump through just as many to obtain a Texas non-resident license.
