INO VOICE

I have been looking through your forums and there seems to be quite a bit of discussion about where the independent adjuster as an industry is going.

We have answers if you are running into problems
in your IA Career. We also have a public guestbook where you can sound off!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, and maybe odd, that the home page is dedicated to "Class action suit".

But, the invite or solicitation is there for you in their material. ".... and would like to be contacted by a representative of our legal team ....".

Kile, big fella, your favorite topic!

Cat Girls comment was interesting: GET INVOLVED FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY. IF TRENDS CONTINUE IN THIS DIRECTION, CARRIERS WILL HAVE NO IA'S TO HELP THEM MEET GOVERNMENT DEADLINES AS PROVIDED BY FEDERAL LAW. Does any one here on this forum agree with Cat Girls thoughts?

Sherkk, In a sense, I agree with that comment.

Overall, within the big picture, the insurance industry is not looked upon favorably by its consumers. "We", as practitioners within a sector of the insurance industry, generally disagree with the manner in which we are regarded or treated within the industry.

It does seem like a declining spiral.

I don't think that there is one single person within the claims community, speaking generically, who is in a position to lead any plan to repatriate our image to carriers, or the image of the industry to its consumers. However, I do feel that something has to be done to stem the decline, and that each of us must take an individual ownership of that cause.

Give me a break, why the hell would insurance companies take us serious, we're just another tool for them. Also, what the hell does the Fed have to do with us, each state regulates insurance, the Fed has nothing to do with insurance, except NFIP, and we all know what a joke that is.

Maybe if we got some serious conversations here, others may take us serious.

Steve, I'm not sure what to think about your 2nd last sentence, and I'm not sure of the literary term for whatever your last sentence means or is trying to say.

It is clear though, that you seem upset or somewhat hostile by what I have said.

I know, you know, most know, what you have said re the federal government. But, I think the intent of Sherkk's quote was clear; notwithstanding the level of government referred to.

I do feel, that if the decline in the IA sector continues, be it for cat claims or any other, and if a void of any degree started to seriously appear in our ranks; that the carriers would be concerned. As well, consistent with that thought, is that if our image started to improve through whatever measures or steps; "we" would be taken more seriously.

Alternatively, I look at your 1st comment as a fatalist attitude, that if portrayed consistently by enough people that may share it or align with it; that it would accelerate the current decline.

Steve one, I think what Clayton is saying is this, and this is my opinion. YOUR ATTITUDE SUCKS. Why be so negative about this industry? All any of us have to do is go out and do the job correctly, and with a good positive attitude and we will find work. NFIP is a joke! I know a lot of people that I have handled claims for that would disagree with you, highly. If your talking about the pay rate, yeah, it is a little low, but it is income for those who are organized, have a good work ethic, and can smile when things get rough. You make your occupation what you want it to be, good or bad. I prefer to think that it has been good for me and my family for 43 years. I know it has been good for the people I have handled claims for because I have always been proud to call myself an insurance adjuster. I have constantly and daily learned something new about this occupation, thats what makes it exciting and wonderful.

Tom, I think, perhaps, what Steve means when he says NFIP is a joke is that typical of anything the government gets it mits into it is way too complicated. It could be much simpler and the paper work could be reduced by 90%. Most adjusters I know do not prefer to work flood claims because the NFIP is so complicated. Like most adjusters I will work flood claims because it's part of the job but all things being equal if you gave me a choice of working 100 flood claims or 100 hail claims I'd take the hail any day of the week.
