| I am returning to CAT adjusting after being away from the business for a few years. I am a little confused on all the software out there. Can someone give me a list of the most used software that I should know? Is there a place on this site that breaks down the software used by different cat companies or insurance companies. Thank you for any help. |

| Cleopatra glancing though some to the topics below your topic to get some pros and cons of the difference brands that adjusters have discussed may be helpful. All packages have those that love them as well as hate them and it is a fact they all need improving. There is no list of what is used by what company that I know of but download over the weekend (or borrow a CD from another adjuster if you are near one) and do the free trial (30 days typically) and see what you think since it seems you have not be told the name of a “required” package. Welcome back to the CAT world. I just talked to one adjuster that has been given 300 files that will keep him hoping until Christmas. He picked a good location to establish his one man adjusting firm it seems. There seems to be well over 100K files from what I have pieced together at this point. VA and MD seem to be the hottest spots. |

Cleopatra, Gale is the man behind PowerClaim, a claims handling program, then there are Xactimate, used by State Farm, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Crawford and others, and IntegraClaim, used by Allstate, GuideOne, Cunningham Lindsey and others. You will have to use the software used by your client. If you use Xactimate you will need a draw program, I use Excel, for diagrams.
This is just the beginning. |

| Chuck, State Farm does use Xactimate but does not require computerized drawings. As far as I know Travelers also uses Xactimate and they will accept hand drawings also. I do know that Allstate does require computer drawings but I don't know anyone else's requirements. |

| I think that you wil find Integra Claim And Xactimate to be the two most used by vendors---Both have there good and ba points. King of Flood is still Simsol. Best of luck with re-entry....things have changed a tad...... |

When I am uploading using Xactimate I use Excel and attach the drawing as a custom Document.
State Farm uses Exactimate as an estimating program. I do drawings on State Farm files by hand.
When uploading or printing to PDF and emailing I do the drawing in Excel.
Surprising that Excel would be as good a draw program as it is.

Why don't you use the Sketch portion of Xactimate......rather than a separate program??

How many people can actually draw in Xactimate? I mean, some interior stuff is Ok in the Sketch module, and simple roofs, but only one Xactware guy over several conferences (PCS, NACA, PLRB) could even do it when challenged.....most of their own guys seemed fairly baffled......
The tutorial only offers limited help, and I've heard they don't address it in the training programs......
What are everyone else's experiences?
I play with the diagrams from time to time, and am learning, but it does seem to be fairly complicated.... |

Integra's diagraming portion is great. The drawing of diagrams is fairly simple. just a few clicks and add your measurments and it is transfered to your rooms, then presto...your roof squares are automatically figured when you select your roofing.... I really like most features of integra.. there are quite a few time saving tricks built in.
Has everyone figured how to transfer the map file to the new delorme?? It is really easy, not as quick as the 9.0 but it isn't bad. Better than hand entering especially at the first of a storm when you are setting your schedule...transfer all claims and zoom in and pick 10 for Monday, 10 for Tuesday..... a real time saver as well as gas saver so you can get everyone on the same street on one day.
Oops...just my 2cents worth....

| I prefer Integra's roof drawing program over Xactimates. Does anyone know of a program you can buy that works like Integra's roof drawing section? I would buy one just to use when I am having to use Xactimate's program. I have talked to numerous people that like Xactimate, but hate their roof drawing program and still draw by hand. |
