Should Everyone use Xactimate????......Only recently has Xactimate altered their past & promised leased agreement from an $85.00 monthly fee to $115.00 per month charged every quarter....Since reviewing other topics it's obvious Xactimate is not influenced by anyone elses opinion..... whats interesting is that Xactimate's past software purchasers have now been forced to accept the newly implemented leased fee.......Should both Integra & Xactimate be accepted by the Insurance Adjusting Industry to avoid the recent developement of Xactimates monopoly.........and please anyone who reviews this Topic to at least leave any comment whether related or not......just for the record....... |

I'll leave one. So how are things down by the river?
I have become frustrated by the move of Boeckh / DDS away from the individual user to the corporate buyer (Big surprise?). Still only use Xactimate for one customer who requires (not many claims). I am currently using an EXCEL based spreadsheet and my knowledge (and research materials) to adjust these simple hail losses. (Still know how to adjust a claim). I am frustrated by the new Boeckh version and lack of concern for "old time" users. I am frustrated by the increase in pricing coupled with the move from month to month contract to mandatory quarterly. I have used Gale's Power Claim and when I finish this local hailstorm, perhaps I will go with his product fulltime. By and large I am committed to working locally. My customers are not picky concerning an adjusting program. (Not saying PC is not picky). I believe Power Claim is more than sufficient. I think I would prefer to gravitate towards a product that is still interested in me, the little guy. (Well not so little 'in a deep voice'). |

Never have been happy with Xactimate (Windows version, never used the old DOS one)due to the cumbersome programming and unstable nature of it. I am, however, forced to use it by my customers. I think that their choice wasn't an informed one but just a purchasing decision along the line of keeping up with the Joneses. I would probably go with Power Claim if I was able to choose. |

Tom,
The Dos versions of Xactware - especially the 5x series were quick, useful and adaptable.
I am still using 5.9, along with 2002. I much prefer 5.9.
Of course, they charge me $50 a month for "dual platform usage", along with $600 a year for maintenance and upgrades, all this after I paid full purchase price for the "temporary ownership of a conditional license to use a product whose use is subject to change at any given whim of the software company."
A huge part of the value of the software extends beyond the interface to include the database. Any pricing database is a work in progress and inherently outdated. Xactwares database is as good as anyone's provided you do your own local updating and have access to making overrides.
One of the criticisms I hear lately is the lockdown of prices by vendors or carriers. I believe that it is appropriate to be able to adjust(that's what we do) the pricing as appropriate, with reasonable explanation to the file and estimate.
I like the idea of the Craftman databases in that anyone can go to a bookstore and have access to the cost factors. But again, anything published is outdated very soon.

DadX9: It is good to know that there are other individuals out there who are in the same situtation with DDS as many of us are. Not only has the program suffered but our wallets are suffering as well.
I have a theory "your only as good as your tools" well if the tools don't perform according to expectations then where are you?
I have been reviewing Power Claim and WOW excellent, great potential and yes they still care about the "little people". Power Claim has an excellent OPEN line of communication and there tech support well words can't explain. I am very happy with the product and service. Now as we all say "that's customer service"! |
