Recent outbreaks of the "I Love You" virus as well as the "Melissa" virus last year raise an interesting question: Is damage caused by a virus considered damage by vandalism within the meaning of an insurance policy?

To find out the answer to this question, the Property Loss Research Bureau has posted an excellent coverage question review at the following website: http://www.plrb.org/news.htm. The title of the article is: "Loss By Computer Virus - Is This Vandalism?"

It is worth your time, not only as an adjuster to read this 3 page article, but as a computer owner and user as well.

By the way, the Property Loss Research Bureau suggests that computer virus damage does fall within the parameters of being considered vandalism.
