Scott, I use both Integra and Xactimate and have occaision to handle claims that require multi page estimates. I also use the version of Craftsman that comes on the CD with the Home Depot catalog. The Home Depot catalog on CD is a real tool. Recently I used Xactimate to write a 22 page estimate ($80,000+) and to compare the written estimate to the figures compiled by an experienced, knowledgeable contractor. The repair figures arrived at using an agreed scope and different methods, I used Xactimate and the contractors used his method, were amazing close in the bottom line. During the Houston flood the several adjusters I worked with wrote hundreds of multi page estimates using Integra. Those estimates, written in Integra, after the Houston flood, were accepted by the contractors who made the repairs. Generally the contractors did not write a sheet nor did we have opportunity to agree on a scope prior to writing the estimate. |

I had posted this thread in the general discussion and realized it may have been better placed under the software discussion. What I am asking is for adjusters comments on price databases. What do adjusters like and dislike about the current databases on the market. I am talking about databases such as Craftsman (National Construction Estimator), Boeckh, Xactware, Marshall & Swift, etc. I would like to see comments on all databases including contents databases as well. Some things you may want to address in your responses are: - Pricing (too high, too low, just right) - Database edit capabilities (flagging of edited line items in an estimate) - Single databases with regional factoring (% up or down) versus individual databases per region - Number of items in databases (comprehensive enough or not) - Mold databases (good mold databases, lack of mold related items and validity of existing mold databases) - Depreciation schedules (validity of depreciation by year) - Accuracy of contents databases and Like Kind and Quality databases. Please give both positive and negative comments as I really would like to hear both sides of the database issue. Thanks in advance for your input folks. |
