Posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 - 10:37 am:        I'm currently using Xactimate and from time to time people ask me questions about how to do something with it so I thought I would put some of the answers in this area. Most if not all can be found in the Getting Started Guide. Some people for whatever reason do not always have access to the guide. Finding Items Xactimate 2000 All of the below can be found from the “Line Item Entry” screen. Keyword Search Clicking the “Key” icon will open a new window that will allow you to enter a keyword to search on. Reference Search Clicking on the “Open Book” icon will open up a photo allowing you to choose an area or item by clicking on it. A list of items will then be displayed allowing you to choose from the list. Related Item Search Once you have entered an item you will notice an icon of two red fruits, clicking this will build a list of items related to the item you entered. For example say you entered drywall the related item search would return items like paint drywall and clean drywall. You can select the items from the list and insert them into your estimate. Similar Item Search Once you have entered an item you will notice an icon of a red apple and yellow apple. Clicking the icon will return a list of similar items. For example say you entered Two Coat Plaster (no lath) but may not be sure this is what you want to use the search would show you a list of similar items like Thin Coat Plaster, Two Coat Plaster and others. You can select from the list and add the item to your estimate.
