Cougar Paws: Best thing since sliced bread. I've had mine a month now. The question isn't how steep a slope the 'Paws will hold (I've stood on a 14/12), but what your comfort level is with your balance at the steeper pitches. Make sure you buy extra soles(pads). |

OK, one more time, glad y'all are paying attention. The number we have is 1-800-726-PAWS or 703-497-2997 They are , to my knowledge , NOT ON LINE. But having purchased the product and watched it preform, I can only state that IMHO it is well worth the $$$. With all these mistakes i should get some sleep, so goodnight. |

RD: Could you please check the 800 number for Cougar Paws. You seem to be missing three digits there. Also, is there a website or a catalogue where we can see these shoes before we buy? Thanks. |

There is a company that makes what you want. The product is "COUGAR PAWS", and they are in VA. Their Phone Number is 1-800-PAWS,their only product is a leather type hiking boot, with laces and a velco strap over the laces. The boots are 60.00 pair . They will ship also. There are 2 different sets of pads, one for wood, slate, metal and another for composition roofs. The wood ones are softer and will last about 2 hrs or 4-5 roofs depending on the slopes and abuse. The composition ones will last much longer. The sets of pads are 5.00 PR. We bought them the other day , after watching a guy walk a 10/12 sans rope, and thought he was nuts. My partner and I bought them, and yesterday I watched the bunny walk up a 12/12 wood shake roof, impossible, but true. I may take a photo of him and submit it ,for the unbelievers. We are old and still alive cause we rope anything we are not comfortable with, but these things work and thats the bottom line. |

Follow this link to the Forum Archive and search on the word shoes and you will find some information. The Forum Archive contains over 1500 articles and right now the easiest way to find anything is using the search form. |

The shoes are called Cougar Paws and are distributed by the owner (Dan Cougar) who also owns Minuteman Roofing in Woodbridge Virginia. He has a 1-800 # but the only number I have for him is (703) 690-6108. I have a pair, and even though I usually don't have too much problem with steep roofs, I can honestly say THESE THINGS WORK! I don't think a roof inspector should be without a pair. Hope this helps!!!! |
