Russ we do not have anything up our sleeve as far has handheld units go. I wish we had your experience in developing and using handheld units. We are looking forward to see what others bring to market. I think John down at Simsol said to expect something from them in the Spring. The info that Tom brought to the forum was interesting and shows that the hardware is coming around. Without question it will happen. I understand FEMA has about 700 handheld units they use to do early damage reports in a disaster today. With half of the adjusters in the U.S. still hand writing estimates Russ we will continue to focus PowerClaim for desktop and notebook use yet developing knowing we will have a handheld version when that platform will meet the requirements adjusters have in the field and it is affordable. When they do catch on any vendor that is not ready to go with a powerful, easy-to-use unit may never be able to catch up. |

Tom at least that is two winners getting together. An powerful OS and a ton of memory will make a great combo. Was there any best guess as to how long before the product could be ready for market? |

Was browsing and saw where Sony and Palm have reached an agreement to produce a new Palm OS that will use the Sony memory stick for greater versitility. This might lead to a truely portable estimating system that several adjusters have been wishing for. Mentioned was also an agreement with Nokia but no details. Imagine being able to prepare an estimate on site and then download it from site. Might be a little to extreme. |
