Stanley makes an excellent measuring device with a laser pointer so you know where the beam is going to hit. Janice and I have one and both of us have checked it for accuracy and it comes up A++. It costs about $60.00 and is at Home Depot. |

Ok, Mine was stolen (or lost) yesterday. SO today I HAD to have another one. Here is the place to get it. SESCO-DSS, Inc. (Speak to Sepp or John) 9547 Arlington Blvd. ( Mention CADO) Fairfax, VA ( Have advised them of us) 703-273-4477 1-800-446-71975 The new Model is the Disto Classic @ $595.00 and another 300.00 for the Sighting Attachment. Bought it today, used it and saved at least an hr measuring time. Figure it will be paid for in time within 2 weeks, Total cost with tax will be less than $1,000.00. |

Chuck, Where can I purchase a laser tape, or whatever it is called. I will be home or in the Dallas area for the next week and would like to pick one up before returning to the Pacific northwest. They don't have a whole lot of stuff up here. Any help is appreciated |

After speaking with Chuck for several years , and being reluctant to outlay the $$ for the Lecia Disto Meter; Finally, the spirt moved me. I splurged and bought it and am in the process of using it , (only read the first 4 pages) of the manual so far. What a delight, especially on a flood job,no wet tapes, covered in who knows what.Measure the interior of rooms and offsets in seconds. Works ok outside , if not too bright, as long as you have a target to hit, use a soffit, fence, gutter, protrusion, etc. You can even measure the area of as roof from the ground (have to read chapter two). Best money spent since the GPS. Once , it learns how to work with me ( or me with It) we shall become attached at the hip. Thanks Chuck, it takes a bit of convincing , but as usuall you were correct and I'm a beleiver. |

Glen, what do you intend to measure. I use a Leica Disto which will measure from any point to any other point that will reflect the laser beam. Example: I set the unit upright on the floor and measure to the ceiling. In some hotel atriums this distance could be several stories. I have set the unit on the ground and measured to a soffit several stories up. This week I used it to measure a grocery store roof, I held the base agains a parapet and reflected the beam off the opposite parapet. Email me and explain what you want to measure and I will give you my opinion. |
