NACA appears to have taken to heart some of CADO post and really are working to move NACA ahead. Last year at NACA 2001 convention highlighted printouts of some of the post were noticed being read. From the looks of things at NACA 2002 in Phoenix this past week they have beefed up their focus on CE classes and have developed a nice website. The vendor show was the best we have attended to date. Interest was high from the members and the numbers of venders seemed to be greater as well.

Black Cat was there promoting the upcoming release of the Windows version of Black Cat adjusting software. Some adjusters tell me their DOS version was one of the fastest adjusting software packages they have ever used. Unlike last year MS&B were a no show but Xactimate did show. Perhaps Crawford’s press release that indicated MS&B was out and Xactimate was in had something to do with that situation.

Someone thought of part of your ideas back in 1974 and 1975 and formed what is now known as the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters, Inc. or NACA. NACA is now 625 members strong. If you are truly interested, the address is as follows:
NACA Lori Ringo, Staff Assistant P. O. Box 821864 N. Richland Hills, Tx. 76182 817 498-3466 817 498-0480 e-mail: nacatadj@aol.com
You will find a world of experence within this association. Lori will be happy to send you a copy of the rules and by-laws and for qualified adjusters, I think you will find your time worthwhile. You will need someone that knows you well to sponsor you and you must have 4 yrs claims experence with references to back up same.

I have been a member of NACA since 1986 (long before it became fashionable to be a catastrophe adjuster) and also highly recommend the organization for any adjuster in this business for the long run. Lori and the rest of the NACA staff work very hard all year to keep everyone up-to-date on adjusting issues.
NACA is a highly social organization and I've personally established some life-long relationships because of my attendance to annual conferences (during those years SIMSOL wasn't out on storms).
I would very much like to see NACA develop a certification program for its members similar to the State Farm / USAA / Farmers testing - only better. I envision a CPCU-like certification that would take 3-5 years to complete (in terms of a lifetime carrier, 3-5 years is nothing). Topics would include everything from estimating to coverages to paperwork to people skills.
If any of the powers-that-be at NACA are listening here, I would be honored to help establish such a certification program (Certified Catastrophic Adjuster or CCA if you will).

I am a veteran cat adjuster. Hurricane Andrew, Erin, Opal, Fran, Georges. Fla licensed all lines, NFIP Cerified, Crawford Property school, FWUA, all 5 State Farm Tests, etc., i do not know anyone in NACA to sponsor me. I have also had a hard time finding work lately. Any advice?
